RE: The party of diversity
My brother works at a university in the Midwest and is on a hiring committee. He told them that if they really wanted to make a diverse hire, they should hire a conservative man from the Midwest. Because his department is 70% female and he's the only person in his department who fits in either of the other categories.

They weren't very happy with that comment.

RE: The party of diversity
Last time the Democrats had a cranky very old white guy from Vermont, a cranky very old white woman from NY, 2 ancient white people from the Atlantic coast and one merely old white person from the Atlantic coast running. A bunch of old white people from the northeast.

The last half dozen among the Republicans included 2 old white people married to immigrants, one a Hispanic immigrant, one Black man, 2 relatively young Hispanics and a cranky old white guy from Ohio. They were from NY, Ohio, Florida (2), Texas and Michigan.
