Campbell through 2025
Iowa State just signed Matt Campbell through 2025. $3.6 million per year. He's .500% in The Big 12 overall and 7-5 this year. I don't get the love for him?? Been at ISU four years - NO BIG 12 TITLE. At Toledo three years (I think) - NO MAC TITLE. If I remember correctly, those extensions don't mean a thing. Campbell signed an extension with UT the year he left us.

Everyone said ISU was a dead end job and he'd be fired by now. He has pretty much hit the ceiling there. Well deserved extension IMO. The extensions don't matter, it's the buyout that somewhat matters.

RE: Campbell through 2025
Iowa St is in the same league as Oklahoma and Texas. Not to mention Oklahoma St (one of the best funded programs in the nation), W Virginia, TCU, Baylor, Kansas State ... being the 4th or 5th best team in that league at the 2nd toughest place to win is pretty good. Iowa St has a great fan base and as long as the team is competitive and fun to watch everyone is happy. At Toledo it's a little different. We have the 2nd largest metro population in our league, are one of the strongest programs historically and lately, and have one of the best fan bases. So, being average at Toledo is a disappointment. The expectation is to win the league or at least come close.

I don't recall those "everyones." Was that from ISU fans?

I think Iowa State had only one coach who finished his career with a winning record.

Matt turned the program around. He is recruiting well, and has ISU competitive in the Big12. ISU beat Oklahoma and Texas, since he has been there. ISU is very competitive in big games under Matt’s leadership. He could be lured away due to his success. I understand why they want to keep him.

Have to say one of the nicest fan bases I've encountered.

ISU fan base is one of the nicest. Agreed. The worst one is Ohio State followed closely by Marshall.

Can't say the Michigan fan dumping an ice bucket on my mom's head exactly made me a fan of some of Ann Arbor's fan base.

In 4 years he's completely changed the direction of ISU Football in a league that is arguably much more competitive top to bottom than The Big 10. They are historically competitive (by their standards) both on the field and in recruiting, and are looking at a substantial upgrade to their facilities. He's on the speed dial of most P5 AD's and many NFL GM's, which is really all that matters.

You might not have liked the way he left Toledo, but to ignore the incredible
turnaround he's led at what had long been considered a coaching graveyard is missing the obvious

Saying it was a dead end job is accurate. Only Earle Bruce had a winning record as a head coach there before Campbell.

He left us Candle.

Actually he didn't..... Candle went to Ames with Campbell for a couple days. Then O'Brien offered him the Toledo job and he came back...….

Nice city, great fans and a very good team to watch. Not like Toledo.
