You could get a Kimber long gun and a 1911 for what you would pay for that contraption. Stick with a 10 year old Mathews.

Never happening to me again.

That's why I'm a 7.62x39 fan. Decades ago eastern european military surplus ammo was unbelievably cheap. I've still got wooden crates of 1000 rd sealed tins from 20 years ago. Not to mention that the rifles are incredibly reliable, accurate, and relatively cheap.

As for the black Friday purchases, I made the decision a while back that as many of my future purchases as possible would be private transactions.

Flip your ammo crates and paper cases every six months. It keeps the powder from clumping which is the chief issue with firing stored ammo. Clumped powder doesn't ignite uniformly so you can get too much pressure or too little. Also the wooden crated Soviet and Chinese powder might still contain corrosive elements. So when you fire it clean your guns more thoroughly.

Thanks for the info. I haven't been the best about turning the crates, but I do put them on a vibrator before shooting when i crack open a new tin. The rounds are packaged in 25 count paper boxes inside the tins with wax paper between the five rows of five. They have a lubricant on them that has remained viscous and isn't tacky at all. I've always had to clean a bit more after shooting due to the lubricant and residue build-up in the barrel after about 100 rounds.

I bought 1000 rounds of some Russian made (I think) .308 FMJ rounds for target shooting that stinks to high heaven. What's up with that??
How long ago and from where? Try to make sure you get 'military surplus' if you can.

About two years ago and from cheapammo.com I think. It stunk right out of the box, has some weird chemical smell.

I've got a modern blackpowder long rifle if I need a long gun, for in close Id rather have something a bit more silent. And here in the Soviet Socialist Republic of Maryland... Silencers will get you a first class ticket to Dante's Inferno.

Obviously there are cheaper things, but ive always enjoyed bow hunting, and the form factor of crossbows just appeals to me now. You cant use a bow laying down in the dirt.

I recommend a blow gun with an ample supply of frogs from the Amazon Rain Forest.

What a strange source of pride. People must see the writing on the wall that this culture of violence won't last forever. I'll be a proud American when we love our kids more than our guns.

it's too funny....the statement is valid, yet, the point he's trying make is pure fail....

I know a ton of gun owners....I don't know a single one that loves 'em more (even when they show off the gun collection)....

having said that, his posit is nothing more than an oxy'MORON'....

You'll cherish your weapons when someone else tries to love on your kids. It's not the world I grew up in and it is much more dangerous for the kids.

Like in any country Russian manufacturers differ in quality and individual consumers prefer different types

The Golden Tiger brand manufactured by Vympel is an outstanding value, dependable and it’s clean as a whistle. I prefer it over most economy American brands.

I love my daughter more than life itself.

Because I love her as much as I do, I have the necessary tools to put food on the table for her after the grocery store runs out of food.

Because I love her as much as I do, I have the necessary tools to protect her from anybody wishing to do her harm.

Because I love her as much as I do, I'm prepared to do whatever I can to make sure she lives in a United States where our our Constitutional Rights are affirmed and the People govern themselves and do not answer to a ruling class that believes they have the right to impose their will on those that disagree with them.

I saw a good quote somewhere recently, maybe even on this board, and I dont know who said it.

"You can't truly call yourself peaceful unless you are capable of great violence. If you're not capable of great violence you're not peaceful, you're harmless. Important distinction. "

Who the fk is advocating for violence?? I enjoy sport shooting, hunting and most of all having the ability to protect myself from those with legitimately violent intent, not some made up BS like you're claiming.

And how dare you suggest that gun owners love their guns more than their children. What a completely idiotic statement. You don't like guns? NO ONE is forcing you to own one, in fact I for one am thrilled you don't.

Guns are not the reason for violence, the evil that resides in peoples hearts is. Those intent on committing violence don't need a firearm to perpetrate it. Ban guns and the bad guys who don't give a rats ass about our laws will be the only ones to have them, and we won't have the ability to protect ourselves from them. If you were somehow able to eliminate every firearm in the country violent people would turn to knives, or baseball bats, or forks, or hammers, or large rocks, or ANY number of other items perfectly capable of being used in violent acts to harm people.

Only the insanely naive and idealistic would think that getting rid of guns would stop violence. Grow the hell up. You will never legislate good and evil and only the evil perpetrate senselessly violent attacks against others.
