VCU 68 ODU 51

Has anyone posted "FVCU" yet? Just need to get that in there. That said, VCU 75 ODU 59

Lacking in big man depth, because our 6'9" guy that might can score is limping around and overall lack of consistent team scoring . I hope we only loose by 12-15 points. Hope we don't get into tons of foul trouble and try to run up and down the floor with them.

I just hope that ODU doesn't run the score up on them too much. If they do the VCU fans might get ugly ....... I mean uglier than normal.

1630 W. Main Street, Richmond, VA 23320.
Registration for one free drink has already closed, but it is a cool venue, albeit crowded.

Hopefully ODUniceguy won't try to beat up any VCU fans this year.
Due to how ugly this game may get, I am going to wear my football black gear.

My crew attended the b&m game and witnessed an absolute pathetic performance by our offense in one of the quietest arenas in the NCAA. I yelled “miss it” during one of b&m’s FTs and you could easily hear it through the entire arena. And the Monarch faithful were present and loud whenever we had a chance to cheer. Barring a miracle, the game tomorrow is going to be an absolute slaughter - i.e., unless (1) Dajour, Kalu, and Aaron own the paint and shut down Silva and score points, (2) the threes/perimeter shots fall for Quis, X, and Joe, and (3) Curry and Hunter can attack and finish at the rim. I’m praying for a win but expect an embarrassing loss.

Just to torture myself, I just clicked on the piss-yellow message boards to read the thread about today's game. What is this ridiculous name they have hung on the costco arena? the animal? Sounds about as dumb as most of their posters. Also, apparently it seems that every thread must begin with "the official..." whatever.
That place is generally an echo chamber of self love for all that is feces-u and makes me want to hurl.
I think I will go take a shower now...

That thread is fun reading.....They're debating on whether or not we're worthy enough for them to schedule us home and home anymore. I'm just going to assume that half the SC tonight will be filled with VCU fans that started their fandom during March 2011...Just a friendly reminder that no matter how high and mighty you guys become, VT and UVA and the rest of the P5's will always look at you in the same light as the rest of us mid majors. Hoping our guys show up tonight because there's nothing better than loudly screaming O-D-U in Richmond. Looking forward to tonight!

That’s the logical expectation certainly. But I always say you can throw out the records when these two play. Plus we have 2 guys from the area on the team.

It's sad that our program has fallen to the point that one of the best sports rivals of all time (ODU vs VCU men's basketball) is not even exciting anymore! There would have been 10-15 pages of posts on here prior to this game. Tickets were not available. The fans from Norfolk would almost equal the number of Richmond fans and it was almost guaranteed that there would be another match-up in the conference championship game. The shame is all the blame for this collapse belongs with us!!!

Umm, we are only one year off of our win over VCU. One season (so far) does not yet a collapse make.
As to the predicted conference championship, remember that it was VCU who left the CAA first, not us

This rival is still exciting, maybe not as much as the past when we were in the same conference. You can bet the players are up for this game plus we did beat them last year. Our program might not be rated as highly at the moment but some of that is due to the conference they are in. They get a bump every year being in the A10. Sure, VCU has a decent team this year but they are beatable. They haven’t even played a true away game yet. They’ll take their lumps this year. Maybe or maybe not tonight but it can happen. North Texas almost beat them. Have some pride in your school.

Aside from the NIT year when we had a legitimate shot at an at large in December, this game had been meaningless every year. That's why the rivalry is dying and there is no buzz.

It's more than that.

For years, I used to have immediate feelings of despising complete strangers, simply for the sin of wearing VCU gear - - and thereby being associated with the total scumbags that we would encounter for 3 days every March in the Big Brown Turd.

That's no longer the case. Now, whenever I spot someone in a VCU sweatshirt, I distractedly wonder what kind of s.t.d. they may be carrying. But not much else.

Agreed - but I’m concerned about our mental toughness in such a hostile environment. At some point during the game, they are going to go on a run and the crowd will be a significant factor. We’ll see how they respond when it happens tonight. This is the game where X needs to prove he is the leader of this team. And we’re going to need to shoot at least 45% from the field and not miss many FTs.
