Rayner can HIT.

That's awesome. I'm excited for that.

He’s going to look good in red and black : http://www.hudl.com/v/2AcvbK

Amen brother. The fact that we lost to Miami OH by a mere 3 points, on the road, and with Childers taking over in the first half due to a Bower injury just reassures me that we WILL be back!! NIU went through a lot of changes this year and dealt with a LOT of key injuries as well and we still were in contention in the MAC.

Good things are ahead fellas!! Go Huskies. #TheHardWay

Here's the new starting Safety. According to 7, he is the #5 JUCO Safety in the country.

Looking at his highlight video, he looks like he can get off a block make good tackles. Looks like a great addition.

RE: 2020 Depth Chart Discussion
That safety position battle during spring ball and fall camp should be very interesting. You have a first year JUCO transfer, 3 young walk-ons, and 5 true freshman. Optimistically you hope 2 guys emerge out of that and take the reigns, but pessimistically it is a real possibility that safety could be a glaring weakness this coming season. Gotta wonder what Rod Carey's plan was as he seemed to lose interest in finding secondary players his last few years (0 seniors, 1 junior in defensive backfield)

I updated the Depth Chart on the first page based on the spring roster. I tried not to speculate too much and didn't add any true freshman.

Updated 3/4/20

Only thing I would disagree with is I think Tyrik Henderson wins the starting Safety job over Earl. He is small for a safety, but with the LB core we have and Appolon at 6'4" 204 lbs we can afford to play a smaller, ballhawk (converted CB) as a FS. We only had 4 INT's last year and 2 were by LB's. We have to put more speed and playmaking on the field, and I would put a premium on pass coverage because where our pass rush is going to come from is a HUGE ??

One other note, Austin Warner is no longer with the team.

Eddie Jackson

CJ Brown
Jordan Hansen

Actually, only 2 of the guys you named are currently at the safety position and that’s CJ brown and Jordan Hansen. Eddie Jackson has been moved to Outside Linebacker, Daveren Is moved to LB and Rodgers will be at Corner this year.

Where is Devin Lafayette playing? There was talk of him at linebacker.

Observations:
-Lots of true and redshirt freshmen. Five freshman starters on defense.
-No Mike Love, Cam Mattox or Mark Aitken
-Pugh moved outside, Rattin starting in the middle
