MN told me three years ago at dinner what I posted and has talked about that several times over drinks. It is what it is. It's ok if you didn't know, just wanted to share that info to everyone.

Cool story. Here are the facts. MNs top areas of recruiting as a HC, in order:
TN
MS
AL
LA
TX

70% of his recruits have come from those 5 states. The next 3 on the Pareto are:
GA
OK
AR

That brings you to 85% of his recruits. What's not on the top 10 list? Any west coast states.

West coast, including Arizona = 5%.

It's okay if you didn't realize. Many people prefer quick sound bites to actual data. Just thought you'd want to know.

87, griffin clearly said Norvell's entire career, which included his time at Tulsa and then Arizona State.

And you do the stats above like Saluki does, just cut and paste without any nuance or analysis.

Sure he said entire career. And that is very difficult to back-up. So you can bet on the anecdotal story with no stats, or you can look at what can actually be verified.

Doesn't take much nuance to look at the numbers at Memphis. Who did he sign and where did they come from.

Are you thinking that the 1 year at Pitt, 3 years at Tulsa, and 3 years at ASU will show some drastic shift to west coast recruiting? Sure at ASU, but Pitt and Tulsa?

Put another way, he's spent 10 years in the east, south, and midwest. He only spent 3 years at ASU. 5% of his recruits at Memphis come from the west. Is it really likely that the west coast is his 3rd main recruiting area?

I mean, you talk nuance - but use some common sense.

About you sharing this on a message board?

He and I chatted today at practice.

Nothing shared that is not known, once Wolo put Washington out he shared it with whom listened.

How is your case going? The overall strategy for Wiseman?

Wait. Post #34 you said only those close to MN know about Washington. Now you say it's common knowledge. Clear this up - are you Norvell's dining buddy dishing the scoop, or is this just Wolo repeated stuff?

He's had 2 recruits from FL since he's been here. So he does recruit it. It's just not a priority - both out of necessity and due to better options.

Needling aside, I'm sure it's the same with the west coast. He can recruit it. But he doesn't need or want to, as seen from his numbers. It is NOT his #3 main recruiting area.

And now he has 4-years worth of deep south relationships cultivated, with much success. I doubt he's going to completely turn his back on that.

I know Norvell's turned down Ole Miss twice, but they've come back into the picture by throwing major dollars Norvells way and telling him that Florida State really doesn't want him. Say if Mike doesn't end up at Florida State, some saying Stoops and Franklin are back in the picture for that job. So if he doesn't end up at Florida State, does he stay at Memphis or go to one of Ole Miss, Arky (turned them both down twice), or Missouri? I know for a fact, Ole Miss is coming after him hard (Sexton's having a field day).

Maybe he and a lawyer of a certain former baseball guy can square off against each other. Cut from the same cloth.

I mean, never say never.
But if he goes to Old Miss, it will contradict just about every facet of the image he's built here.
I know he cares about people here and legacy, and he knows that will leave a bad taste in people's mouth.
I don't see Arky either - but at least there's a family thing going on there.
I don't see either of those happening. At this point, I think it's either FSU or he's back to Memphis next year and waiting on the next great opportunity (not mediocre opportunity).
