These are blow hards with no money or rich guys planning to part with a few million more to see OM return to glory?

Man I hope that's not the case because he's gonzo if that's the offer. Whatever happens Norvell is about to have that golden parachute retirement contract by the new year.

If CMN is stupid enough to take the Ole Miss, Arkansas, or Missouri job, then he needs to go. Get fired in 4 years, and reload.

I can only worry about things I can control.

I doubt they offer him that but if so I'm pretty sure he is gone.

Who could blame him?

That's a serious payday of say 20-25 million

When he goes- and he will eventually; wherever he goes... we must do 3 things-

1. take the high road; thank him and congratulate them
2. hire another great coach
3. Show up

OK, $20-25M over 4-5 yrs & get fired. OR, $12-15M if he stays at Memphis over the same period & he gets another contract in the $5M range to follow on or the premo job at Bama, OU etc. It's just not worth it to coach a loser program like OM where he won't even end a season in the top 25.

I don't know what his decision will be but I do know Ole Miss is now officially a player in the MN sweepstakes. Tifwiw

The only school that concerns me is Florida State, with outside shot with Mizzou, other than that, we're good.

Agree but not sure I've heard MN even on the list at FSU. MO admin is a mess as witnessed on nat'l TV over the past several of years - half the students & teaching staff have been brainwashed to think MO should shut-down the athletics program. Can't imagine that being a destination job.

5 Million for 5 years...

He'd be crazy not to take it...

Flip the Ole Miss game and the conference schedule this year.

We likely lose Ole Miss
We likely lose SMU
and possibly lose Navy
We win Temple.

3 losses and that type of money aint coming next year.

RE: $5M a year for Norvell
Ole Pizz is an SEC bottom feeder like Arkansas (it appears they will be getting Lane Kiffin according to my nephew who's a dyed in the wool pig farmer). The boosters, not the schools pay these big salaries to coaches and we have some pretty big boosters. I think that last flirt with Arkansas let Norvell know which side his bread is buttered on. I mean who in the world back when Porter was our coach could even think we'd be playing for a big New Years day Cotton Bowl and here we are. The sky's the limit for our program and the principle parties involved realize this. Chill!

That’s not the only place I have heard it. What scares me is that it’s also from someone that is pretty connected in the local media as well as both the Tiger and Rebel football programs

If 5 mil per is the sole reason to get Mike to jump then he most likely would already been gone.

RE: $5M a year for Norvell
Why should Norvell STAY at the U of M? Here is a quote from an article by Zach Barnett (footballscoop.com): “I tell people all the time I’ve got one of the best jobs in the United States of America. I’m in a place that I love to live, I love to represent this university and be a part of this city,” Norvell said earlier this year. “I enjoy coming to work every single day.” So, here are my reasons for him to consider staying at Memphis:

- He is close to his hometown in Arkansas
- His popularity in Memphis is very high and likely to get better
- He pays no state income tax in Tennessee
- He will be getting a renegotiated contract for more money at the end of
this season
- He has no pressure to win conference championships like many other
schools in P5 conferences
- The new indoor practice facility will be open by next Summer
- The quality of football in the AAC is on par with the ACC and PAC-12 and
getting better every year, which helps SoS and rankings and may
eventually cause the P5 to change to P6
- Quality of life in Memphis is better than Oxford, MS, Columbia, MO,
Fayetteville, AR, Tallahassee, FL, and any of the other towns/cities I could
find
- Moving to a bigger school for more money does not guarantee success but
does guarantee more stress and pressure to win
- And best of all, I will treat him to a free dinner at the best steakhouse in
Washington, DC whenever he is in the area.

I hope he stays but no matter what Norvell decides to do, I will support him and wish him well because he is a quality coach and a humble decent man. Go Tigers!

RE: $5M a year for Norvell
Since 1970 and Johnny Vaught OM has had 11 coaches and only 1 left under his own terms. In that time span they have a .59 winning percentage. They have not won a conference title since 1963. Its only attraction is that its a P5 job willing to fork over a lot of money. Beyond that its a graveyard for coaching.
