Classy touch.
By head to toe, you mean baseball cap?
Other than that he has a nice suit on.

RE: Wilder Leaving per WAVY-10
Enough cannot be said about the positive aspect of Wilder running a clean program.
In this day and age that is a huge positive.
On the other side of the coin are APR (Academic Progress Rate), and what is becoming more scrutinized recently, GSR (Graduation Success Rate).
ODU football APR, while in the lower tier (86) of FBS programs, is an acceptable 961 in 2018
https://collegefootballnews.com/2019/05/...s-no-1-130
ODU football GSR is also in or near bottom tier nationally. At 63% it is next to last in CUSA, with the national average at 79%.

While not program killers, I would like to see these figures improve as we move forward.

While it's sad seeing Bobby leaving after an unimaginable season. It's exciting to think about the Monarchs moving forward.

You could tell he didn't want to finish that press conference, that he didn't want to walk away.
Sometimes you learn to soak things in. He will never again be on that stage looking out across that room.
Pause and make yourself a visual image that will last a lifetime. It's smart.

Felt the same way. It is sad. BW did a lot of good over the years, but the wins just weren't there.

He's not dead! LOLOL
I'm sure he'll land on his feet somewhere. Probably FCS, and will do well. I do share the sentiments with most of you, he's a likeable guy and did a lot of great things for us in starting the program and moving if forward. He'll be just fine, and it's exciting to think about the new direction we'll be taking with a new HC!

Did he officially resign? Yes
He may have been given the choice, but he both resigned and received his buyout.
With personnel matters, an employee is sometimes given the choice to resign or be terminated.
The choice is offered for various reasons, including altruistic motives of the employer out of respect as to reputation and potential future employment of the employee.
Very often that choice is also in the best interest of the employer so as to insulate itself from some future related litigation, and/or a financial obligation such as a buyout, a bonus, or even severance.
If BW officially resigned, and was still payed the termination buyout monies as stated in his contract, there are serious legal ramifications to a publicly chartered and operated institution.
Only if that money was paid from a private funding source would it be acceptable.
Is ODAF considered a private funding source?
I believe it is, however as an ODAF contributor, I would (and do) have serious reservations as to using the fund for that application if it legally is not necessary., considering the already precarious financial state we are allegedly in.
I suspect that I am not alone.
It's a moot point. Wilder wouldn't have resigned if he wasn't going to get his payout so either way the AD/ODAF was going to have to payout his contract. This way it sounds more amicable and perhaps gets some cooperation from BW to help with the transition (whatever that looks like). Nobody believes that BW just made a case for getting one more year this weekend and then woke up this morning and changed his mind and decided to resign, so regardless what you call it this was ODU's decision and we had to payout his contract.
Exactly. It also benefits both parties to have the departure be as amicable as possible on the surface, even if everyone and their blind uncle knows it was a sacking. This was guy who helped create the program from whole cloth, got them into the FCS playoffs as soon as they were eligible and transitioned them to FBS well ahead of schedule, winning 10 games in a season shortly after the move up. Whatever people might think about the impact he had on the program, he was far from a bystander that got a lucky break or three dropped in his lap. As such, he earned the time he got to turn things around and when that failed, a chance to leave on the best terms possible.
I'd rather see him get his walking papers like this than, say, have him yanked off the team plane after the last game or find out he got turfed on Twitter in a recruit's home.

Wilder Leaving per WAVY-10
You guys/gals arguing about whether he was fired or resigned had me thinking about The Office and that episode when Michael Scott fires Ryan after he said he wanted to resign or something. Good times.

And the last episode where Dwight fires Jim and Pam right as they're about to resign, but only so he can give them a healthy separation package instead of the nothing they would have gotten had they left on their own accord.

Fired or resigned doesn't matter to us fans, but I'm certain it does to Bobby. The $600,000 buyout is really just paying him a equivalate bonus of $45K/yr and since he was one of the lower paid HC in FBS it seems fair to me.
