Wilder Fired per WAVY-10
Why would we pay $600k? The buyout was supposed to drop to $300k yesterday correct? Don’t give me the we owe him crap, he made $750k a year. Use the extra cash for the new hire.
This is nothing against BW just financial responsibility!

It went from $900K to $600K today. They covered themselves by not leaking anything or meeting with him yesterday, this was definitely calculated. The resignation/fired thing is them doing a solid, I'd bet.

Even if we all know this had to happen, this is still quite hard on Bobby and his family. This is not an easy thing for anyone, deserved or not.
I feel bad for the assistants and their families, genuinely. They make far less and some could have issues finding equal or better employment.
Bobby made his money here and had a long run. I'm happy he's gone.

One of our bigger concerns at this point should be holding on to our current, verbally-committed, recruiting class. At eight commits, it is a small class, but all eight are three-star recruits. This is potentially the best recruiting class the Monarchs have ever brought on board. We cannot afford to lose any of them, and we will hopefully add some more quality recruits. Early signing day is December 18. It would be great if all eight of them sign then, but that may be hard to pull off.

Worth noting a fair amount were on Twitter last night supporting Wilder's return.

If he truly resigned, we wouldn't be giving him the buyout.

Again, you don't pay out buy-outs for people who quit. We are calling this a resignation as a show of courtesy for all his year's of dedicated service.

Whether they had to pay the buyout or not is not the question. Wilder resigned and was given the $600k buyout.

RE: Wilder Fired per WAVY-10
We probably offered him the choice to resign or be fired, and because we like Bobby, we told him we would pay him out either way. I do wish we could have negotiated down from the $600k though. It also sounds like he will help with the transition (not sure what that looks like). If he were fired that wouldnt happen.
