I am sad, it had to happen, but I wish the outcome was different. I wish we were headed to bowl games on a regular basis, but the writing was on the wall. I wish Bobby the best, and hope that he lands on his feet quickly. Thank you for everything you did for ODU.

"Efforts by some key supporters to keep Wilder failed".

Some people have to get kicked by the horse two or three times to get the message!

I hate it, but it absolutely had to happen. Best of luck to Bobby in the future and I'll always appreciate how he got the program started and brought us great success at FCS and our first bowl win. I hope he can come back sometime in the future for a proper send off.

Fully agree. I appreciate everything he did to jump start the program. It was necessary for the program, but I hope they do something to honor him.

The pilot says he "resigned". Does that mean we don't pay him the buyout?

I felt like this until Bobby started blocking fans on twitter for retweeting a meme. He’s soft, we need a guy that embraces the fans in good times or bad. Our demeanor is allowed to change, we’re “fanatics”, not the head coach and face of a D1 FBS program.

I do appreciate what he did in the first half of his time here, but this is slightly overdue. Peace!

It’s ok Ed, you don’t have to suck up to him anymore, he’s not the coach.

Maybe it had to happen, but for me, it is a sad day for ODU football. Bobby Wilder was ODU football, and I think we lost a great man and a good coach. I for one regret that he did not get the one more year that he asked for. I just hope we are not out of the frying pan and into the fire. Best wishes to you, Bobby Wilder, and thank you for all you did for the Monarchs.

I'm sure they came to some sort of agreement. Bobby is not walking away from $600k, and he shouldn't.

Ed's twitter feed says he "stepped down" after long meeting this morning.... terms not yet disclosed.

Jami Frankenberry says he "was not fired".

Maybe for accuracy the thread title should be changed.

Anyone who has been let go from a job, will agree with me...please be kind.

Even if we all know this had to happen, this is still quite hard on Bobby and his family. This is not an easy thing for anyone, deserved or not.

Long overdue, appreciate what he did and he’s had a great run but it was past time. Charles Huff, please.

ODU is going to pay the buyout according to the presser on the ODU sports website. https://odusports.com/news/2019/12/2/wil...coach.aspx

Quote:Selig said the Old Dominion Athletic Foundation, the University's fundraising organization, will buy out the last two years of Wilder's contract for $600,000, fulfilling the terms of a deal he signed in 2017.

ODAF is paying his buyout 600K. He was given the opportunity to resign. Either way he was out as it should be. BW is not ODU football, when he made that comment that this is my baby, that’s when I decided I would not renew my 8 tickets if he returned. I’m a top 50 ODAF. Maybe top 40.
He had 6 years to show something. More than fair.

Wow. It actually happened! I want to thank Bobby Wilder for everything he did for this program! We need to move forward as an FBS program. He seems like a great guy, but he was unable to coach and compete at this level. I'm really sorry, but we must move on as an FBS program!

It seems ODU is listening to you guys/gals!

Thank you for what you do!
