Maybe a redshirt season, and this looks like the season to do just that so far.

Oliver is more of a spot up guy.

I've been saying just that. Folks asking about him posting up etc. He seems to be having trouble just running. I would be surprised if he played much at all this year. I feel sorry for the guy coming all this way and being able to do anything on the court.

Maybe a redshirt season, and this looks like the season to do just that so far.

Someone said he's already played 2 minutes this year, so red-shirt would be out..

Mac, it’s funny you mentioned Wilson Washington. Last night in the second half I said to the guy in front of me, “Where is Wilson Washington when you need him?” That would have been the kind of game he would have dominated. But I know, that was a long time ago.

From watching Wilson Washington play back in the 70's for ODU I can say that if there was a basketball game that day that he played in, it was usually a game that Wilson dominated. He was one of several very special inside players that ODU has had over the years. Guys like Wilson, West, Gattison, Hodge, Laughton, and Lee for example come to mind. We could sure use someone of that calibre on this current team.

Blaine used to say there is no such thing as a medical red-shirt. That injury was just a consideration to re-shirt a player or not. I would defer to "Coach' for clarification. BT would sure know about red-shirting players, he did it a lot.

He was masterful at using it as a tool to build a consistent program that would sustain success from one year to the next. I miss that.

Think you are right Mac. It's a misnomer but can have the same effect in terms of an extra year of eligibility

Wow. I would also think it’s possible we slept on JMU thinking they were a gimme, while it’s Radfords Super Bowl. None the less, Radford vs ODU would sadly, be a pretty good game this year.

I said we would get destroyed by W&M and we did. The same will happen Saturday against VCU. These are teams we easily beat or were on the same level with less than 10 years ago. What does this mean? Are we in a down spiral or is W&M & VCU in an up spiral? How can either one of them out recruit us given the facilities we have to offer? So it must be either the style of play, coaches or conference? We have no one to blame but ourselves. Simply not getting the job done!

VCU has a lot of advantages... Final Four run and NCAA bid just about every year, basketball focused AD, better city if you really want to be honest, better culture, more local government and community support and involvement, more exciting atmosphere. We have a better arena (aside from the arena VCU has as good or better facilities) and untapped potential, but I do understand why recruits want to play there. In the early 2000s when we were beginning to build a high level program and beating them, we had local/community support, university support, on par atmosphere, Richmond was a schithole and Norfolk was probably the better city, and there was no postseason run for VCU. We have a lot of work to do to compete. Being out-recruited by W&M is unimaginable. They have better academics and that is it... and I find that hard to believe that is a high determining factor for most recruits.
