I worry about when/if Mississippi State fires Moorhead next year. They’ve won before and if proximity to friends and family count it’s as close as you u can get

I can't see into the future but... Bill Clark is an old school defensive coach in an era of new age offense. The trend in recent years has been to hire offensive minded coaches. The very thing that UAB fans love to complain about - lack of creativity on offense - may be the very thing that keeps Clark at UAB.

Why go somewhere where you're pretty much guaranteed to take 3 division losses every year while really ratcheting up the pressure? Money is the only upside for those jobs, but I just don't think Bill is one to chase the pay day. I mean $1.5M living in Birmingham makes you a rich dude. Not to mention he is pretty much a living legend at UAB with zero job pressure, he's from Alabama, spent nearly his whole career in the state, and his family all live close by. It would also surprise me if he leaves before the new stadium opens since he was so instrumental in getting it built.

Based on comments he's made in the past, it seems to me like Clark is more of a program builder vs chasing the next shiny thing. He seems to want to do things that haven't ever been done before. I'm not saying he'll stay forever, but I don't think it's too crazy to think he could be our Bobby Bowden or Bill Snyder - but I think long-term that would hinge on getting into a better conference. I pretty much only see Bill leaving for a powerhouse P5 job and Ole Miss/Arkansas/Missouri aren't powerhouses.

Except for the paycheck Ole Miss is a terrible job. The only time in recent years Ole Miss has come close to a division championship they cheated (and got caught) to get there. In a typical year the best Ole Miss can hope for is to finish fifth in their division.

Damn... Man oh man oh man... Your first post here, and you drop this. First, let me say: Welcome. Next, let me say: you, sir (or ma'am) make a really good point that hasn't been mentioned a whole lot. The trend in college, and indeed NFL, ball, has been toward offensive coaches. Great point.

We are preparing for the Conference Championship.
So is Memphis and FAU. I think Ole Miss will want to get this done fast.
I’m hoping they(OM) move on to an asst at a big time program.

Ole Miss is losing commitments right and left......lost at least 5 yesterday BlazeOn makes a great point. Not many P-5 would offer/are looking for a coach with an offense like ours. They usually look for signature wins too. If a school is looking to have a great defense, Clark is your man though..

New stadium will be a huge factor. Finally getting that albatross off of UAB's neck will be huge and will actually move the needle. People wouldn't even want to come to Legion Field to watch Alabama play at this point

Second part is getting out of the toilet bowl that is Conference USA and start playing relevant teams. More people are going to show up to see Cincinnati than they are Louisiana Tech

I know you're exaggerating but Legion Field would sellout if Alabama played a game there tomorrow. And I refuse to talk down about CUSA because they are the reason UAB isn't in the Sun Belt right now.

The most important thing that needs to happen with UAB attendance is getting the student body more involved. Playing in the AAC would help but they have bottom dwellers like CUSA so we would just be able to rely on a Cincy, Memphis, Navy, etc to help attendance.

The students will not be at any game unless it’s between Monday and Thursday. Hoping to see them prove me wrong on Saturday, vs Memphis.

My point about Legion Field stands, when UAB moves to the new stadium a lot more casual fans will be unlocked and attendance will improve based on that alone

And I don't see any difference between the Sun Belt and Conference USA today, so what exactly did they save UAB from? Louisiana Tech and UTSA don't really hold much more cache in my mind than Troy or South Alabama. You can say CUSA bailed UAB out and maybe they did, but much like Legion Field that doesn't matter. More people are going to show up for Memphis, Cincinnati, and Navy than they are UTSA and Louisiana Tech

From getting kicked out of the conference. CUSA allowed time for UAB to determine if the football would be revive instead of just kicking them out of the conference after Watts killed the program. They gave UAB until June 8, 2015 (Conference USA president meetings) to decide. The program was revived on June 2nd.

CUSA would have allowed UAB to stay in the conference for one more season without football to give them time to find a new home. So yeah, UAB owe a debt of gratitude to CUSA.

And yes I would like for UAB to be in a better conference, our current commissioner sucks! But I'm not going to speak bad about a conference that spared our football fate in the Sun Belt.

Remember during the Haase era when we would have multiple games with a sold out/ nearly full student section, but with only 2k of the general public in attendance?

I remember a decent showing from students, 3 times. UNC, Morehead state(game after football shutdown), AU.

I'm hearing that you may be pleasantly surprised. Some are setting up at noon to watch the football game outside Bartow prior to the basketball game.
