2 point conversions
Curious what people’s opinions are on 2 point conversions (as a philosophical discussion—not as a complaint/criticism about the game).

Late in the game, when possessions will be limited, I think they may make sense (make it a 7 point game instead of 6)

However, any time prior to the 4th quarter, I just think it’s too big a risk to give away that free (for the most part) point.

After our failed 2pt attempt, UNT had (I believe) 3 more possessions.
The way we were trying to give away yardage, what if UNT had kicked 2 FGs? That extra point would’ve been the difference between going to OT instead of losing in regulation.
What if we had kicked a FG in the 4th quarter? That extra point would’ve been the difference between a 1 or 2 possession game.

I know, I know. The list of “what if’s” is endless. But that’s sorta my point. The earlier in the game, the longer the “what if” list is—and I’d rather the one sure point.

I completely agreed with that decision to go for 2 at that juncture of the game.

RE: 2 point conversions
There was a strong possibility at the time that we would have trouble scoring again.

Right call IMO.

I’m a fan of going for two every time you score. I think advanced analytics will eventually take over, but some coach has to be the first to take that jump.

I agreed with going for two when we did. I do agree that sometimes some coaches go for them when they should not.

He bobbled it. Had he maintained control it would have been, but he was out of bounds after the bobble.

The question I have from that play is what was done to cause the unsportsmanlike foul?

Pittman and the back judge had a philosophical difference of opinion as to the accuracy of referee's interpretation of the ruling.

RE: 2 point conversions
I like trying for 2 point conversations at the halfway point of 3rd quarter especially in low scoring games. I also like 2 point conversations in the first quarter from the Chip Kelly school. In overtime games I also favor taking the ball first if my offensive is dominant. I developed that concept in high school when ball started at 10 yard line.. If we scored TD first then our defense could blitz and take chances forcing opponent to mistake.
