What to do with the staff......
I say...extend Bobby for 2 more years reduce salary and reduce buyout clauses. His choice to accept or be fired. He must let OC and QB coaches go. Promote Either Stinespring or Blackwell to Assistant HC.

Defense in CUSA portion of the season was not that good. Injuries or too much tape on what to do against us? Not sure that warrants Blackwell getting a promotion.

Hire a new guy and let him determine. If he wants to keep some, great. If he wants to fire the whole lot, awesome.

Nothing short of cleaning house will do. If we promote an assistant to HC, then they can hire their own staff. But we need a new HC and let that person decide what to do. We return 87% of a horrible team. Im not sure thats a good thing, so bring in a new coach and let them decide.

get fired, get $600k and another job somewhere or extend your contract at a lower rate and get fired down the line for less money?

I'm not his agent but that seems an easy decision.

Do you think a guy who gave up on a team is going to resign or go out with any sort of class? Not a chance. Send this dude packing ASAP.

We've done the whole "replace the coordinators" thing. It's not them. It starts at the top.

So most feel it is best to start clean for FBS level. Might as well...can't get any worse is the thinking from most. I tend to think we do have some talent on D returning and some talent on Offense returning. My hope is we can hold it together if there is a wholesale revamp.

We haven't replaced the real problem and that is the OC adn QB coach. Bobby will pay for their inadequacies

FIRE WILDER. HIRE A REAL FBS COACH. LET THE NEW COACH DECIDE WHO TO RETAIN OR CUT LOOSE.

Tes the defense did improve from last year! On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best we improved from 1 to 2! BW has fired and hired in the past with no improvement. He can't recruit at this level and quite frankly I dodn't think he would know what to do with quality players.

Couldn’t agree more. He should have let them go last year. Now he is going to go with them.

BW said after the game that if given next year and things don't improve he will voluntarily leave. That means no buyout $$$. As much as many want his gone yesterday, this or a similiar scenario might be the best option. He absolutely is devoted to bringing ODU back. This program, after all, is his "baby". Maybe hitting bottom is what it takes to wake up.

It's time to move on from Broderick and Selig if they don't clean house.

He should have let them go years ago.

Sans Heinicke:

Whitcomb. He was named QB coach with no prior experience whatsoever. To his credit he has done "ok" with mature self starting talent like DeMarco, Washington, and LaRussa. However he was not up to the task with talent that needed developing and refining, such As Colin McElroy, Shuler Bentley, Steve Williams, and Drayton Arnold (among others IMO).

Scott. His offenses have succeeded against lesser defenses, and sometimes with brilliant individual performances.
However those offenses have been simplistic unimaginative and predictable. Offensive line blocking has been almost exclusively simplistic zone schemes. Run plays, while starting at different points, overwhelmingly have ended with the inside zone.
Very little movement, or misdirection.
Passing has lacked slants and crossing routes, necessary to solve for some defenses.
The so called screen pass has rarely succeeded because a screen never develops. As with any edge attack, our OL has been just too slow.
What has appeared to be an unwillingness to make in-game adjustments has actually been the result of no adjustments being available.

As with 10 years (sans 2016 and 2019) of horrific defense, BW has either been unable or unwilling to see deficiencies and act upon them, and therein lies the problem.

EDIT: I don't believe for a minute that Stinespring and Blackwell were his idea.

Absolutely ..... if not it will be the three stooges and the program sinks lower. Disgusting that this has been let happen. BW was given ample opportunity to right the ship, failed miserably .... he has never been an effective FBS coach, in highering his staff or recruiting players.03-puke

Man, as much as I want him gone, doesn’t he deserve to go out on his own terms like this? This isn’t without complication.

What I keep coming back to is, this program can’t afford another year like this one, or the previous two for that matter. Folks in the 757 only support a winner. It can and will only get uglier if Bobby is allowed to stay.

Agreed - too bad Wilder has a blind spot and doesn’t see it. I will be stunned if he survives next week. I wish him well and hope for better days for our program.
