We've done the whole "replace the coordinators" thing. It's not them. It starts at the top.
We haven't replaced the real problem and that is the OC adn QB coach. Bobby will pay for their inadequacies
Couldn’t agree more. He should have let them go last year. Now he is going to go with them.
He should have let them go years ago.
Sans Heinicke:
Whitcomb. He was named QB coach with no prior experience whatsoever. To his credit he has done "ok" with mature self starting talent like DeMarco, Washington, and LaRussa. However he was not up to the task with talent that needed developing and refining, such As Colin McElroy, Shuler Bentley, Steve Williams, and Drayton Arnold (among others IMO).
Scott. His offenses have succeeded against lesser defenses, and sometimes with brilliant individual performances.
However those offenses have been simplistic unimaginative and predictable. Offensive line blocking has been almost exclusively simplistic zone schemes. Run plays, while starting at different points, overwhelmingly have ended with the inside zone.
Very little movement, or misdirection.
Passing has lacked slants and crossing routes, necessary to solve for some defenses.
The so called screen pass has rarely succeeded because a screen never develops. As with any edge attack, our OL has been just too slow.
What has appeared to be an unwillingness to make in-game adjustments has actually been the result of no adjustments being available.
As with 10 years (sans 2016 and 2019) of horrific defense, BW has either been unable or unwilling to see deficiencies and act upon them, and therein lies the problem.
EDIT: I don't believe for a minute that Stinespring and Blackwell were his idea.
