'87 was 6-5, I think '86 was 5-5-1 and '85 was 4-7.
Bailey was fired in the Spring of '88, then that season was 2-9 under Stobart and '89 was 4-7.
So '86 - '89 was 17 wins, I'm pretty sure.
'80 to '84 was 1-11's, 2-10's, maybe even an 0-fer in there.
1980 might have had 3 or 4 wins, then the 1's and 2's started, with the possible 0.
So you're right, it wasn't even 35 total. Right around 30.
EDIT: maybe I'm off a year and '87 was 5-5-1, '88 was 6-5 in Bailey's last year, then '89 was Stobart's first at 2-9.
(EDIT #2: I knew I meant to say something else, Dockery had one good year at least. Maybe only "promising" at 5-6, but better than the several before and after.)
