Losing Mitch really sent Toledo into a spiral. It is shocking how the season turned out.

Bradley looked improved. Made some great throws, but there is no separation by receivers. No clever scheming. Weak blocking. He had dlinemen blowing by their blockers in his face every other pass, while Dormady from CMU had wide open guys every pass play. Bradley isn't fast or clever with his feet, but he has a gun and quick release, just bad timing to come up on this Rocket team curiously bereft of receiving talent and pass blocking.

Finn is talented. In retrospect he would have been the more successful heir to Mitch. The offense only looked good this year when Mitch was playing and using his feet to open up the defense and keep them off balance. Eli and Bradley are zero run threats so our entire offense shrunk in unpredictability and scope. Finn was obviously the 3rd backup in line but his skills are similar to Mitch and would have provided us with continuity and an offensive identity.

as for the defense...I've got no defense for that

There are really no dynamic play makers on either side of the ball. It’s really startling.

The defense shows absolutely no ability to create turnovers.

It’s amazing that the win total was even 6.

Create turnovers and tackle, make any 3rd down stops, cover more than ten yds down field, not jump offsides, lose the outside edge, stop a running QB, generally poor pursuit angles. The list could double, but my thumb is tired typing.

In the last few games we couldn't even slow the opposing team down. Bend but don't break became jail break defense, part the red sea, dumpster fire, etc. Our fall was one of the most catastrophic plummets I've witnessed in over 40 yrs of watching football. After the WMU game, I went from telling the wife to not plan anything for Dec. 7, to telling her we are going shopping Dec. 7. Shopping is nearly as painful as watching us collapse overnight, starting at BG. It was like a bully taking our lunch money and we never recovered.

This is so accurate... I really can’t recall ever seeing a team completely collapse this this. Toledo teams under Candles, even Campbell tended to fade as season progressed. But nothing like this. We started out the season playing Top 50 football and ended up the season possible the worst team in D1. I would not be on us straight up against Akron at this point

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with what I saw - but admittedly, it wasn't enough to be able to form much of a judgement. I thought he looked better in the other game he played in earlier in the year. Almost looked like he was playing not to get hurt, Can't say that was a bad strategy on his part..

At this point Peters would be a senior next year. I'd go with him. Work Finn in as a wildcat and let Bradley season another year. I'm not seeing starting QB potential out of Carter. Hope he proves me wrong.

Just dropped by to appreciate that my thread title from last week carried on! I am feeling a little more optimistic after today's news at least. I agree with some of the sentiment I had seen about potential changes at OL/OC as well but I think today was a really good start.
