Doesn’t this change benefit Tech? I don’t think this will make them want to jump. It’s the USM fans that are rightfully pissed off.

It's this kinda crap that can initiate geographical realignment. It's a lock if two certainly two at the top begin serious chatter about the prospects. Sounds like the beginnings of a coup attempt. 04-jawdrop

USM has been getting screwed by CUSA ever since realignment.

Or add USM, Marshall, and WKU while offering up Texas State. Not that WKU would want to come back or anything but it would tighten up our alignment and allow Texas State to bond with their Texas sibling schools.

I like Texas State and would hate to see them go. They have killer Olympic sports and are a legit sleeping mammoth in football

The general consensus here is if we go somewhere we want away from tech. We see now why UL wants nothing to do with them and their tax funded program

First choice would be Southern Miss and Marshall

Second choice would be Southern Miss and UAB

Definitely Southern Miss

I would love a conference with Texas schools for selfish reasons, mostly Rice since I live with 10 miles of their stadium. I think SBC is the better conference overall to be in. Once we get football on track the way we did basketball, I think we will see crowds over 20,000 regularly and grow rivalries with UL and stAte.

Just took a stroll through their campus via Google Maps street vision. What do they have to be self-righteous about?

I actually stopped through Ruston a couple of years ago while traveling the interstate through there, just curious to see their campus. It didn't appear much renovations had been done to campus buildings or athletic facilities since the 70's. It wasn't very attractive.

Downtown was dead too.

Or . . .

Invite USM and UTSA and call it a day. I wouldn’t mind having UNT back, but they’ve already left and I doubt they’d return.

RE: CUSA Changes Football Tiebreaker
So I went to Tech for two years before transferring to Southern Miss. I can tell you it was the worst two years of my life. The town of Ruston does not (or did not at that time) support La Tech. It was two different places - the campus and the town. There is very little in activity that you would see on other college campuses and no school spirit to speak of. I can remember coming out of the Caruthers one weekend and counting 5 cars in the parking lot in October. I think we played Toledo and blew them out by 55. If there were 6k in the stands that would be a high guess.

The TAC was nice at the time and the Lady Techesters were the signature program. Baseball was bad back in those days. Other than engineering I can really recall anything special about Tech academically. As someone who went to school there I can tell you, it is nothing special.

Before we invite WKU Trolls back over here with charts and graphs to inform us of why this will never happen, lets be very clear. WKU is NOT coming back. I think its pretty clear that neither side has any interest in a reunion

Can I see USM getting annoyed enough they quietly send messages to the AD's at South and UL that they would be prepared to listen if we came knocking? Sure.

But WKU...no way Jose.

If you had been more active a couple years ago, you would not be asking this question.

Tech fans used to come visit us every time they beat a Sun Belt school in something to remind us all of their superiority.

Southern Miss fans have found out what techs old Southland partners knew. They are not worth the trouble. What's the old saying. If you buy them for what they are worth and sell them for what they think they are worth you would be a rich man. Let 'em rot!

I mean, I remember all of that crap. I just didn't know the La Tech weirdos irritated USM fans... for some reason I thought they liked each other and their "rivalry"

The difference is that its not as if Tech and USM had some sort of grand history with each other before they joined CUSA.

USM has always been more closely aligned with UL and South. It's sort of like how Texas State is likely more closely aligned with UTSA than they are with any SBC school.
