God I’m tired of such abject mediocrity running amuck in a once proud athletics program.
There is only one man to blame for this and his name matches Jeff Jones coaching style quite aptly.

I agree Razor. I was thinking about that very thing today. Let’s look at the most recent results:
Field Hockey - no post season
Women’s Soccer - no post season
Men’s Soceer - no post season
Football - worst season ever
Baseball - no post season
Men’s Basketball- first post season in 7 long years
Women’s Basketball - no post season in years
All our programs are all mediocre. Some would say lack of money. Don’t believe it. Some say lack of facilities. Don’t buy it. We can only thank Woody for this. In my opinion, he can hit the road real soon too.

Lil' Woody will be gone soon enough. The football stadium will be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Living on the west side of the state, I constantly hear and read about UVA. They firmly believe in Athletic Excellence. I know, I know, they have endless pocketbooks and great facilities. But, it’s not just that. It’s a mindset. Every one of their teams excel and rountinely make the post season. They win national championships. They don’t accept anything less. You strive to be the best you can be with the financial backing and facilities you have. So, we can’t be a UVA. But, we don’t have the mindset or vision to be anything more than just average or mediocre. Why not just drop many of our athletic programs if we are not going to be the best? It’s truly a huge waste of money, time, and energy. Just a waste....
Why not go find someone who has that mindset and vision and raise our university to a higher level? I can only hope...

Mediocrity...we should be so lucky...ODU athletics have fallen way past that ..ODU athletics are an embarrassment...the move to CUSA has proven to be a death sentence...It will take a complete overhaul of the athletic Department and years to right this ship..we have to somehow get into another conference or create a new conference...something...but we need to get the hell out of CUSA

Here comes another box score analysis so I apologize.. but:
Ezpike played 9 minutes and committed 4 fouls. How is this possible??
Hunter only played 6 minutes, committed 2 turnovers during that time. 4 of his minutes went to the walk ons in the midst of a blowout.
Dickens logged his most minutes of the year with 22, yet scored 0 and committed 4 fouls.
I can only hope that the guys took a vacation and forgot they had to play ball while they were down there in the islands. If that's the case, it's time to stop accepting invites to these mediocre tournaments if we aren't going to show up and completely tank our resume.

Hopefully AJ getting eligible will give the team some life. I am hoping it will also send some guys to the bench for good.

Kalu racked up three quick ones in the first half. And pretty much as soon as he came in in the second half, he got his fourth. By the time it was safe for him to come back in, the game was over.
None of those 4 were good fouls or even 50/50 calls. They were all obvious and badly timed. Not a good game from him.
Dickens played good D but he gets called for fouls almost every time he fails to go straight up for the block, regardless of whether contact happens or not. He also needs to learn to be more patient on screens. Far too often he doesn't wait for the pick to develop, running off ahead of the ball handler. Making it a waste of time to even try the pick and roll.
Not sure what to do about the missed bunnies. It's happening at an alarming rate this season.

Yeah, this team has missed way too many easy baskets inside the arc. The FG% inside the arc is pathetic. We not only need Green to reach his potential, but we also need someone else to step up and score some buckets....Ezikipe or Curry (unless Oliver is that guy).
Knew this would be a rough season, particularly early. Didn't expect to lose to JMU and George Mason.

This team currently has no concept of executing a half-court offense. Curry and Wade score well full court, but half court we have one player over-dribbling, one that must be stationary, one who cannot shoot, one who wants to play the 4 instead of the 5, one learning to play a new position, one who is undersized and unable to play position offense or defense...
Also, the team needs to help out to limit penetration so even bad 3-pt shooting teams become proficient snipers.
We've got a long way to go.
