RE: UAB Bowl Projections - Week 13 (updated 11/27)
Yahoo finally updated their projections and placed us in a bowl not mentioned before...the Music City Bowl in Nashville vs. Louisville.

The accompanying article talked about ESPN exercising their flexibility clauses with the bowls a lot this season to try for more intriguing match-ups.

Really? Navy fans travel like that?

The Navy tends to fly in/bus in hundreds of sailors for bowl games. Pensacola is not that far away. But, I wouldn't go as far to claim a fan disadvantage. They aren't going to bring 20-30 thousand.

Correct. Once Navy learns where they are going for a bowl game, they send out solicitations to the Blue&Gold, season ticket holders and everyone else on their mailing list, asking for donations for service members to attend the game.

Based on the teams in the list, I would be happy to play any of them except Ohio in the Bahamas bowl. There are some genuinely good teams there. App State, Cincy, memphis, Air Force, Louisville, UCF, or navy. SD State has a decent record - but I would be less interested in playing them as well.

I would love a game in Albuquerque though - nice 90 minute direct flight for me from SoCal! It is also a really lovely little city.

That Music City Bowl would be great for so many reasons. Closest proximity of any bowl (except for the dreaded Birmingham Bowl). A good date, in that dead period between Christmas and New Year's. More $$ and prestige, and a nice opponent. And, as a bonus for me, I have kids and grandkids in Nashville, which would make the trip perfect for us.

For the longest time Nebraska was the same way.

I fell off their list a few years ago.

Music city bowl would be awesome for me personally, bc I live in Nashville. Don’t get the hate for the bham bowl.. I’d be super happy to play another home game. I just hope we play in a bowl that is easily accessible this year

Playing Cincy wherever right now would be a really good game for us publicity wise.

Also Navy or UCF.

If we can do it in Nashville or close by that would be great.

A pretty good traveling fan base to the bowl game would do wonders perception wise.

Publicity for sure but for it to be positive we got to win and at the very least not get blown out. I'm less concerned about where and who we play but more interested in playing well and winning.

If we beat FAU and get our choice of bowls ( among the CUSA-affiliated I assume) but we happen to get an invite to a better bowl game, can we opt to take the best bowl possible even if it isnt part of the CUSA family??? How about if we lose to FAU, but still get a decent non-CUSA bowl invite??

Given that both of us won CUSA in the past two years and both of us got the Boca bowl you might get a better bowl game if you lose ;-)

I am guessing that there are contractual obligations to fill the tie in bowls first.
