RE: Smaug's $0.02
Clark's dream isn't to go to Auburn to get beat by Alabama every year and Auburn's fan base is way too prideful to dip down to lowly UAB to find a new head coach.

Certainly if Alabama came calling he would be gone today but Dabo is in line for the next opportunity.

UAB could make it an even better place with increased attendance.

A 35,000 average certainly would be tougher to leave than a 24,000 one.

Smaug's $0.02
Look, we're going to hear "______ ought to get UAB's guy" from now until doomsday as long as two things happen:

1. We are good.
2. We are not a member of the special club.

Get used to it.

Once again, beats hell out of having coaches nobody wants.

Why would Dabo leave Clemson for Alabama?

Why would Dabo leave Clemson for Alabama?

Bc he played at Alabama, and started his coaching career there

I don't think Dabo would be leaving Clemson anytime soon for the same reason Saban won't be leaving UAT any time soon. They've both got a good thing going where they're at now.

Thanks going to be a pretty thankless gig for little Nicky's replacement.

Dammit, now y'all have sucked me down this rabbit hole.

Auburn has won 3 of the last 10 against Alabama, and 10 of the last 20, so I think your first point is off base. Plus, Saban isn't going to be there forever, so I think Clark would jump to Auburn in a heartbeat. They've shown they can compete. Don't forget in the last ten years they've won a national championship and played for another. As far as Auburn's fan base being too prideful- you might have a point there. But the administration has shown they don't care what the fan base thinks. As Exhibit A, I would point to that new contract with a $50,000,000 buyout Malzahn got two years ago. I'm yet to hear an Auburn fan who was on board with that. I'm married to one, so take my word for it.

Alabama on the other hand would never in a million years hire a coach straight from UAB.

As far as Dabo, he's never going to Alabama. I'd bet my house on that. Everyone talks about it, especially hopeful Alabama fans, but it isn't going to happen. He spent ten years at Alabama as a walk-on player, GA and position coach. But remember he was fired from Alabama, along with the rest of Dubose's staff. He was selling real estate when Tommy Bowden hired him to Clemson. He's been at Clemson now for 17 years, and the last 12 as head coach. He's a Clemson man now.

It reminds me of all the talk about how Vince Dooley was going to leave Georgia and go back to his alma mater, Auburn. He didn't. And how Pat Dye was going to leave Auburn and go back to his alma mater, Georgia. He didn't. Likewise, Dabo isn't going to Tuscaloosa.

Clark turned down a $2.5 million DC job at Auburn when he didn't have a job.

Don't think that Clark hasn't noticed how Gustavious is being treated down there.

And just how is he being treated down there? Being paid over 6 million a year in total compensation. This despite being 2-6 against Georgia, 2-4 against Bama, 2-5 against LSU. Never winning a road game against any of those teams. I think Auburn has been pretty patient actually.

So, anyway.

It was a big win, and sets us up with a shot at the conference championship, which is better than most of us predicted.

You come on dude. Do some of think you can spout off something as a fact and not provide some kind of proof of what you're saying is true?

I know this is the internet and a lot of believe whatever is said on the internet is true..... I'm not one of those believers. Sorry!

I can make stuff up, too. Watch this:

In 2016, when it looked like Donald Trump was going to secure the nomination, the RNC quietly went to Bill Clark and asked him to step in and be the Republican candidate for president. They even offered to select Miley Cyrus to be his running mate. But Clark said he had bigger fish to fry. Also, the moon landing was fake. And wrestling is real.

I know he was offered DC jobs at major programs but I never heard anything about 2.5 million (I do not doubt Auburn spoke with him but I do not believe they seriously offed him 2.5). I know he was offered the Memphis job for more than he was making at UAB when Fuente left.
