RE: Nate Holley CFL Rookie of the Year
Dustin Crum wins it for Ottawa in his first CFL start. Down 19 in fourth and ties on game tying run as time ran out. Then 29 yard run for TD

Team was 1-3, now 2-3

He's a gamer. Always seems to lose out in practice. Passed up for Barrett here. Barely earned any preseason reps with the Chiefs, barely made his CFL team as the 4th string QB. But in a game situation he comes through.

I see in the box score that Winnipeg’s QB is fellow Ohioan Zach Collaros from Steubenville and U of Cincinnati. I remember seeing him play in HS.

16 points in last two minutes of regulation. Vibes of 2019 Buffalo game

The first game he played in relief duty, if I’m not mistaken he took the final drive (potential game tying) into the red zone, tucked it but fell short at the 2 yard line. Crum was definitely a gamer, not going to slide short on game deciding drives to save himself for the portal.

PS:
Quote:A week ago, Crum was stopped at the two-yard line as the Redblacks tried to tie their game against Hamilton.

“When I got to the five-yard line, I was almost feeling that moment again,” said Crum. “But I was like, ‘I’m not going sideways. I’m going to go right through him.’ I wasn’t going to let it happen again. It was a whatever-it-takes mindset.”

Ironically on the winning run he had the chance to slide after picking up the first with a defender in position for the hit. Instead made a cut. In the post game interview he said sliding isn't in his DNA.

Also his passing stats would've looked better but in the first half he had a WR drop an in stride perfectly thrown deep ball that would've gone for a long TD.

Crum is playing on CBS Sports Network as I type this. Game in the first quarter. Showed some nice highlights of Kent’s comeback against Buffalo.

If the defense can hold for 1:20 he'll be 2 for 2 in game winning drives in his first 2 starts
