I don't know how healthy the Mean Green got over the bye week, but Mason Fine will start for UNT today. With Rice having to respect the pass, I think Tre Siggers could be in for a big day. I'll take North Texas to win this one, and retain the Texas Title.

Quite possible, but don’t tell us we have to respect the pass. We haven’t respected the pass in years!!!

UNT should NOT go to sleep on Rice. I'm shocked that Rice has only won one game. They can beat UNT today. But I'm not close to the Rice team, so I can't speak to how last weeks big win over MTSU will affect the Owls.

I’m not ‘close’ to the program either, but I have followed along closely all season. I will say that there has been no sign of ‘quit’, even through nine losses. I hope that the win will only help build confidence. If we get complacent (ha-ha) then we have zero chance.

We did almost blow two 17 point leads last week, and of course blew multiple leads against LaTech early on.

One weird trick we tried that worked last week was to play the same damn quarterback for the whole game.

Another fun fact: Rice sits poised just 2 games back of UNT and UTSA with two games to go for the glorious midpoint 4th place spot. A spot every bit as close to first as it is to last.

A win today and at UTEP for Rice, along with three more wins between UNT and UTSA against their remaining opponents(all sporting winning records) and fourth is OURS ALL OURS (and by “OURS” I mean us and UNT and UTSA in a theee-way-tie). But for a squad universally dissed and dismissed by the preseason prognosticators, I would take it.

I picked Rice to finish 5th in the division with 2 conference wins. But what do I know, I also thought North Texas would finish 11-1 in the regular season. Go Mean Green!

UNT is way overrated. Rice had a brutal OOC and sputtered in the conference games too but they are finally putting it together.

For some weird reason I've been following Rice this year since our game. They are close to putting it together. Looks like it is falling into place this week.

Lot of bottom dwellers on the rise...the conference is improving. Glad we didn't have to play Rice late in the season.
