Maybe Gary Patterson is the closest thing to what Bowden did at FSU. But you're right, it was a different time and things just don't work that way anymore.

I just went to wiki where it lists all FBS HC's, arranged by year hired and counted to the middle of the group (the median)--and 2017 was the year hired.

I just went to wiki where it lists all FBS HC's, arranged by year hired and counted to the middle of the group (the median)--and 2017 was the year hired.

Ah, so median vs average.

The median would make sense, because there are firings every year. Obviously, there are fewer coaches that have been around 10+ years.
