I see the ACC as 3-6 against other “P5” conferences so far. Doesn’t include 0-4 against ND either. AAC isn’t claiming to be P3 or anything, but just as good as ACC and P12.

The AAC isn't far behind the ACC right now, but nowhere near the PAC. The PAC hasn't been nearly as bad as some think.

The Pac has 2 teams 9-1, and only 4 bowl eligible. They are pretty bad.

The MAC now has about 7 bowl eligible teams and might get more, and the MAC is putrid. That is a very poor metric for rating a conference.

One way to get a lot of teams eligible is to not be very good and produce many 4-4 and 5-3 teams who beat an FCS and maybe a bad FBS.

There's too few games to measure a good G5 Conf vs down-year P5 Conf, or a good G5 vs good G5, or good P5 vs good P5, etc.

Not to say some can't stick out of course.

We'd need 8 (non-FCS/non-Ind) OOC season games tied onto our conf games to have a clearer look at it. Instead, as it stands, there'll only be 2 or 3 conf vs conf games a year for everyone. Not good enough. Teams can start out great and sputter. Or start out bad, but be good later.

BUTT, that's why they say we have bowls. :)

Even in college basketball, you think one conf is better than another, but one conf does much better in the Tourney + NIT.

IMO, in football, instead of bowls, we should have Tourneys:

1. All 12 NY-Bowl teams play in a National Championship Tourney (Top 4 instead get a bye; 1st round is home/away games)
2. All the rest have 8-team tournaments - 1st round are home/away games; Lower ones only have final game as a true bowl

Currently there's 39 Bowls -- for 78 teams. Outside the National Championship Tournament, there would be 8 8-team tourneys, overall leaving only 2 teams out. Which nobody would complain about. And for each tourney, no 2 teams from the same conference play each other in the 1st round (and avoid playing each other in 2nd round or being in same tournament among equal-level ones).

THEN you would have a much better view at the end of season come mid-Jan, which conference was better than another.

I think the MWC should be ahead of ACC and PAC 12 being stronger. They have 10 wins over P5 schools. They got wins over the SEC schools.

Yesterday's SMU loss to Navy was a bad look for the AAC. Navy gets obliterated by a #16 Notre Dame team, then beats a 9-1 #24 SMU team that Aresco was saying deserved to be even higher.
