RE: Norvell meets with Univeristy of Arkansas
This is the current list, as reported by pig trails. This just came out yesterday. No mention of Norvell, but does mention Justin Fuente.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas’ search for a head football coach continues and some familiar names are near the top according to sources.

Among the candidates appearing to be near the top of the wishlist are, in no particular order, Florida Atlantic’s Lane Kiffin, Auburn’s Gus Malzahn, Washington State’s Mike Leach, Cincinnati’s Luke Fickell and Virginia Tech’s Justin Fuente.

RE: Norvell meets with Univeristy of Arkansas
Another vote for Long, but the good news is due to the hard work of the admin, current HC, and last HC, the program is a G5 powerhouse now and we will have our pick of qualified high end P-5 OCs / lower G5 HCs to select from.

The days of begging position coaches are gone. We will still not be a program that can keep coaches from high end P5 jobs, but we will not be poached from lower P5 jobs and can give a up and comer that life changing opportunity.

My sincere thanks to Norvell if this is it.

Next man up.

I am not sure how long it will last on this thread, but the maturity posters are showing on this topic is amazing. Perhaps it is just being worn down about this subject each November.

Hope the team can handle it the same way.

If coach Norvell leaves then Silverfield or Long are at the top of my list. I just don’t see Arkansas as an attractive job and even a dumpster fire FSU seems light years ahead of Fayetteville.

This may be a dumb question but Do these coaches actually fly around and meet with these AD's. I mean with modern technology, can't they just facetime these interviews? I mean I realize if they're really interested, they would want to see facilities, etc. I'm just referring to the preliminary talks.

Um....dunno...ask Fuente.

Lane Kiffen will never be an employee of any kind of the state of Tennessee. You can mark him off your lists.

You can be sure that the interest is not mutual in Fuente's case.

Both the UofA and FSU have fired coaches after a year and a half on the job. So unless you are strictly in it for the money, why take the job? You have eighteen months to prove yourself at those programs or you are out. Even Justin Fuente is catching heck at Va Tech and and he has done a pretty decent job. I guess it just depends on what a coach goals are. I can see MN staying at Memphis at least one more year then maybe moving on to a place that isn't a dumpster fire.

I sure hope Mike stays at Memphis, He knows he's in a great spot, but he's gonna do what he's gonna do, when he's gonna do it.
However if he decides to leave us, I have faith in Dr Rudd bringing in a decent replacement
Personally I'd like Lane Kiffin or Hugo Freeze
Come on Mike stay in Memphis and take us to the top five and the ACC, 12, OR THE BIG

Chad Morris made 3 mil per year at Arkansas
Matt Luke makes 3.1 mil per year at Ole Miss
Joe Morehead makes 3.2 mil per year at MSU
Mike Norvell makes 2.6 mil at Memphis.

Of those guys, who has the easiest job? Who has the best chance to make one of the big 6 bowl games? Who has the best chance to be in the job 10 years? Obviously Morris is out, but the Arkansas job is a hard one.

The up-and-coming assistant HC at a big school has been a far better path for us.

He would kill it at FSU. Until we are P5, this will forever be a stepping stone job. Fortunately for us, this job is so good that mid level p5 schools can't poach our coaches. Also this article verifies the rumor on the conference board that Norvell has already told them no

Dumpster fires are where coaches are needed.
