Little Rock Announces 2020 Trojan Baseball Schedule

Nov. 20, 2019 Baseball
LITTLE ROCK – Little Rock head baseball coach Chris Curry has announced the Trojans' 2020 schedule – one that includes 26 home games at Gary Hogan Field.

The challenging slate for Little Rock includes a pair of top-10 RPI programs, another top-25 foe and four top-100 RPI schools. The Trojans face six teams that qualified for the 2019 NCAA Baseball Tournament with non-conference games against teams from the SEC, Big 12, Southland, Missouri Valley and Conference USA.

"Once again, we have constructed a difficult schedule that will challenge us in the non-conference and prepare our team for the rigorous Sun Belt schedule," Curry said. "With 23 new players in the program this year, we expect to learn a lot about ourselves and be battle tested by the time the postseason begins in May. Our goal is to win the conference and take this program back to an NCAA Regional, which we believe this schedule will prepare us to do."

Little Rock opens the 2020 schedule with a four game home stand at Gary Hogan Field, beginning with a three game series against Illinois State February 14-16. The Trojans then host Grambling State for the first of two games on the year against the Tigers on February 18.

The Trojans make a journey south to Thibodaux, Louisiana, where Little Rock will go head-to-head against a pair of Southland Conference foes. The Trojans take on Nicholls on February 21 and 23 on the Colonels' home field, broken up by a neutral site game against McNeese on February 22. That leads into the Trojans' yearly trip to Stillwater, Oklahoma, for a two-game series against the Cowboys February 25-26.

Little Rock returns to Gary Hogan Field for a three game series against North Alabama to close out the month of February before road trips to Oral Roberts (Mar. 3) and Southern Miss (Mar. 6-8) to open the month of March. The Trojans then open Sun Belt play at hosting UT Arlington Mar. 13-15, followed by a two game series with Mississippi Valley State Mar. 17-18.

The first Sun Belt road series of the year takes the Trojans to Troy Mar. 20-21 before Little Rock closes out the month of March at Gary Hogan Field, taking on Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a midweek game Mar. 24 before hosting Appalachian State Mar. 27-29.

April will prove to be challenging month for Little Rock as the Trojans play 12 of its 16 games in the month away from the friendly confines of Gary Hogan Field, beginning with a three game series in Atlanta against Georgia State Apr. 3-5. That leads into the rematch against the Razorbacks in Fayetteville Apr. 7

Little Rock hosts ULM in Little Rock Apr. 9-11, followed by the first of a three game series against Central Arkansas Apr. 14 in Conway. The Trojans then head south to Lafayette for a three game series against the Ragin' Cajuns Apr. 17-19.

Central Arkansas makes its yearly trip to Little Rock on Apr. 21 for the second game of the season series before the Trojans visit reigning regular season champion Texas State (Apr. 24-26) and make a return trip to Grambling State (Apr. 28) to close out the month of April.

The home stretch of the season begins with a home series for Little Rock against South Alabama May 1-3, leading into the culmination of the baseball series against Central Arkansas May 5 at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock.

One final regular season road trip takes the Trojans to Conway, South Carolina, for a three game series against reigning tournament champion Coastal Carolina before closing out the regular season May 14-16 against the rival Red Wolves from Arkansas at Gary Hogan Field. Little Rock will then turn its sights on the 2020 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament, making the shift to Montgomery, Alabama May 19-24.

Little Rock is coming off one of its best seasons in program history in 2019, winning a program-record 18 games in the Sun Belt Conference and finishing with the second-best record in the league. The Trojans went 8-0 against the other four Division I programs in the state of Arkansas, becoming the first team in the state's history to defeat the other four in a single season, and is coming off a strong fall season which included a two-game sweep of Missouri in Columbia.
