Tour of Press box
Wenton last nights tour of press box. 20-25 people max, almost all people involved in furnishing, signage, graphics, interior design.
Very interesting to see Presidents suite, different rooms for coaches, replay booth, video room etc.
Learned several interesting facts.
The northern or left hand support beam on the west side is strictly decorative to provide symmetry.
Look for something exciting for last game. Can't reveal, but it is something we've all talked about.
All in all pretty good. Excellent all you can eat buffet, scallops wrapped in bacon, prime beef with horseradish sauce etc.

Sounds great. Any mention of the NEZ timeline?

If its not about the NEZ then I dont care. But it cant be because we dont have anymore fans to fill the stadium because the team sucks.

RE: Tour of Press box
I heard a while back that they were discussing adding upscale portable restrooms to the upper levels prior to the start of next season. If that is the announcement, I will be thrilled!!!

But, as someone said, there will be even fewer people there to hear or see whatever is being planned. Thanksgiving weekend, a lot of the die-hard fans could be out of town, as we will be.

I love bacon and all but I've never understood taking $15/lb Sea Scallops or Filet and ruining it with bacon.

There was really only one ODU person there. She had limited specific knowledge about the NEZ, but said what we aleady know. The NEZ is a priority but money is tight and it will need to be paid for with private money. That will take a number of years to raise. Bottom line NEZ project is anywhere from 3 to 5 years out.

Thanks for the info. I'll look at the bright side and be glad that it is important enough and on the radar enough that it was even mentioned. If its up in 3 or 4 years I'll be satisfied. It will take at least 2 years (hopefully not more) to get the team back up to decent and filling the stadium to capacity anyway.

He doesnt specifically say theres an "announcement". I wonder if they will finally install the cool graphic banners over the west entrance? Would seem odd to do that for the last game and then have them be weathered through the winter, but they would look good and give that side of the stadium a more impressive "finished" look. Might be impressive to recruits too.

RE: Tour of Press box
The last game should be interesting ..... my guess is that the turkey show on the field will lose out in competition with the T-Day leftovers. I'll be there for the big announcement -- can't imagine what would be exciting for Monarch football at this point in the most disappointing product I have seen since the program started. Maybe free t-shirt and coasters for the 2K who will attend?

The real announcement I would like to see would be BW's going away precursor announcement teaser for the following week. But I digress. 03-puke

Maybe they will announce that Bobby Wilder is going to step down after the season and introduce a new coach. (I'm joking here so don't kill me)

RE: Tour of Press box
It really would be nice if Bobby announced ahead of time he was stepping down. I think we could actually get a good crowd to send him off and cheer him appropriately for all he did to start the program. I don't intend to go to the game, but if I knew we could send BW out of town on a high note with a proper thank you, tribute video etc, I'd make the extra effort to be there.

Brian Scott stepped down and we run an offense with some creativity and that does not include a blown up poorly blocked wide receiver screen in every set of downs

C'mon now, that's just not true.
When did you ever see ANY blockers get out in front of that play quickly enough to actually create a screen in the first place???!!
Just call it the "behind the LOS, slightly forward of lateral, pass to a naked wide receiver that is designed to get back the line of scrimmage but often doesn't" play.

Interesting- after I inquired about the banners and the cup holders here in another thread- I got an email from ODU saying - Banners later in the season (did not happen) and cup holders next year(we will see)
