Here’s Greg Schiano’s complete list of demands: $4M a year, a $25M guarantee and a private jet

The stuff like “unlimited use of a private jet,” “golf club membership,” etc sounds ridiculous but is the certainly standard amongst pretty much all of P5 (and G5, actually)... Even at poor ‘ole Rice, Bloomgren uses a private jet quite a bit when he goes recruiting. Hell, lots of schools have a helicopter they see use to land at games and attract attention (Kevin Sumlin is/was big on this).

The stuff about facility improvements and assistant pool raise mandates is necessary when you’re in the same division as OSU, UM, and PSU (not to mention MSU).

Another one bites the dust:

Tony Sanchez to coach final game at UNLV on Saturday

Quote:After UNLV finished 4-8 in 2018, athletic director Desiree Reed-Francois issued a statement that Sanchez would return in 2019 but that the school was looking forward to a season "including bowl eligibility."

Sanchez is 19-40 in five seasons with the Rebels, who are 3-8 this season. UNLV failed to make a bowl game during Sanchez's tenure and are 12-27 in Mountain West play during that time. Sanchez will coach in Saturday's finale at Nevada.

Before UNLV, Sanchez coached Las Vegas high school powerhouse Bishop Gorman. He had strong local connections and had been instrumental in fundraising efforts for the $34 million Fertitta Football Complex, which opened earlier this fall. "We have the best facilities in the Mountain West and rival some of the best in the country."

If Mississippi State defeats the University of Mississippi this week, I would expect that the Oxford school will be added to the list.

Disagree - I think Matt Luke has a strong vote of confidence from Mississippi admin, even if they lose this week.

Yeah, in addition to being a football alum, he was a Sigma Nu there which means he’s plugged into the old money/donor crowd.

Would be very, very surprised if he doesn’t get a 3rd full season.

At the end of this year, he will actually have had 3 full seasons, although the first was as an interim coach after taking over from Hugh Freeze in midsummer.

Reality is, in modern-day CFB, it can’t be considered a full year without having a signing day associated with it.

Next year’s fourth opponent of the season, Lamar, fires its coach, Mike Schultz, after compiling a 13-22 record in three seasons.

Are they better than UTEP? UNT? Middle-central-by-the-roadside Tennessee? Asking for a friend.

Yup. Thanks. All the great power programs gonna go for a ride.

New Mexico to part ways with coach Bob Davie after eight seasons leading Lobos program

He had some health issues earlier this season.

Quote:New Mexico announced Monday that the school and coach Bob Davie have mutually agreed that Saturday's home game vs. Utah State will be Davie's final game with the program. The Lobos are 2-9 this season and 0-7 in the Mountain West Conference.

Davie has a career record of 35-63 in eight seasons with the program. He led the Lobos to a 7-6 record and appearance in the New Mexico Bowl in 2014, and followed it up with a 9-4 campaign and a win in the New Mexico Bowl the following season. His 35 wins are the third-most by a coach in program history (OUCH!)

The New Mexico job was Davie's second head coaching job in college. He went 35-25 in five seasons at the head coach at Notre Dame from 1997-2001.

I don't know....it's Tejas, but it's not Div I. I'm not sure how bogged down I want this to get, but I'll go ahead and list it if you'll help me keep up with it.

Lamar University head football coach out following 4-8 season:
Mike Schultz

Quote:Schultz served as the head of Lamar's football program for three seasons, compiling an overall record of (13-22).

The move comes after a (4-8) season that included a last place finish in conference. The Cardinals ended Southland play with an (2-7) record, dropping their final five games.

Schultz was given an extension until 2021 by Athletic Director Marco Born and the university following the 2018 season. The extension included another one year option following 2021.
(So much for that...at least they're willing to pay the money to cut bait. That's proactive)

If I recall that used to be called Div I(a)? I guess I meant top-tier, but we're not even that with the P5-G5 nonsense. So, technically correct, D-I FCS, while we are hanging on to FBS without the B for the time being, which would make Rice D-I, F0S. Like to see us at least move up to D-I, FwcbS next season.
