I'm with you. He has the looks of a really good player if he can get comfortable out there. His length and athleticism are not combinations that you see at our level everyday. If he can pile more skill (I think he is fairly skilled already), understanding of the game, and confidence on top of his God given talent he will be really good.

Yes to all of that. I really think he can be a good player for the next two years. Jones certainly thinks highly of him to give him the starting nod in the exhibition.

I'm with you bro. We all want these guys to show up and be great from day one. We have had a few really great players who did that but they are few and far between. Most take some time.

This is funny but I tell my buds almost every game when Reece shoots and misses, "man, that's a pretty shot". Hopefully...SOON, those misses becomes makes. The other thing I like. This dude gets a rebound and he's the type of player who can immediately turn and start the fast break himself.

He looks like a basketball player to me. Just needs experience and confidence.

It seems that the Monarch faithful are more interested in this game than the pukes. The thread on the purple chat boards has 3 comments...
I guess they are just a football school now.

I live in the DMV and since they own that media market, I'll ask around today and see what I can find out about how they feel about their chances.

More students will not bring more money into the program.

And outside of the students you won't see any uptick in attendance after the first year it is open. It is just too far away for teachers to travel during the school year. But seriously, it is in the middle of nowhere. The majority of alums do not live within easy driving distance. After the newness wears off the non student attendance will return to it's standard level of non-existence.

There may some minor weekend increases in following years. But 1/2 of the conference schedule is played on weeknights. And likely an even higher percentage of weeknight games in the out of conference schedule.

Mac, just curious but do you really think Reece has a pretty shot or was that meant to be sarcasm? Don’t get me wrong, I like Reece but to me he was one of the worst outside shots on the team. He may turn into a good slasher to the basket but I don’t see him as ever being a consistent shooter.

Ive touted Reece for 2 years, but I'm not seeing it at the moment. I do agree he needs to play though....let him figure it out. He has the potential to be very good and a good compliment playing beside Ezikpe. It just hasn't clicked for him yet.

I think 5:00pm. Parking enforcement for students begins at 4:30pm.

Bazemore is the only true athlete I can remember who developed a relatively rounded game,although I think he is still remembered primarily for great defense and thunderous dunks, not his shooting.He did learn how to make free throws.
ODU has had a stream of "athletes" who never learn how to shoot. They generally play good D and rely on dunks or put backs. I've often wondered how/why an athletically gifted kid doesn't learn how to shoot, make free throws or dribble.

You don't have to look any further than Xavier Green.

To a lesser extent, Haynes was not a good shooter but improved at shooting while at ODU. Caver became a good shooter. Bacote became a decent shooter. All were more athlete than shooter coming in.
