Would have been a battle for first place. True rivals are supposed to play the last week of the regular season.

'Cause the MAC screwed things up years ago with stupid mid-week games.

That said, WMU beat CMU decisively earlier this season. Proved we are the better team, better program, with better uniforms and a better band, too.

31-15, baby!

When it is early in the year both teams are still in contention with the season in front of them, fans are still excited about the game, the weather is good, and because of those things the stadium is generally full, regardless of the location or the year. It hasn't been very often that both teams are having a good season by the end of the year. Late season MAC games generally are poorly attended, even when they are on a Saturday. I have been to the WMU/CMU game for 15+ years in a row, home and away. The early season games are generally well attended, and the late season games are almost always very poorly attended.

It’s a tradition, but it’s not our tradition.

Absolutely! I agree and couldn't have said it any better.

It's because it'd get less exposure -- unless ESPN set it up where we'd get our own time-slot where no other rivalries were taking place at the time.

Like MSU vs UM, it can still be a good/big rivalry game. But I would always say latER in the season, not early in the season. Maybe the week prior to rivalry week.

Yep, Many rivalries are played randomly thru-out the season.

I guess I'm OK with the game being earlier mainly due to MACtion. Maybe move it to late October?

The Toledo-CMU game will be a battle. Toledo is playing for the post season bowl bid while CMU is playing for a MACC bid if we collapse against NIU. Either way, look for Toledo to bring their A game versus Central.
