Nine Straight Years
It’s not been talked about much but with the win yesterday, Arkansas State is now bowl eligible for the 9th straight season! This is the longest streak in the conference and in top 15 longest streaks in college football. With all of the unfortunate circumstances this year that included our head coach missing games due to his wife dieing and playing with a shell of the team we are due to the most injuries I’ve ever seen in one season, we found a way to get bowl eligible again. One more win and we guarantee our 9th straight winning season also! There is so much our fans can complain about, but we have to appreciate this feat. I look forward to next year. Go Red Wolves!

This.
Fans like me may whine and ***** but the truth is this program has reached a level and maintained it for a while. I respect that.

No doubt, your program has earned the respect of not only the Sunbelt, but also the entire G5 family, congratulations! Well earned!

Would like to get some more wins so we can get beyond nine-straight years of being bowl eligible and get to nine-straight bowls. Don't want to get left out like ULM.

Well we aren't invited to a bowl yet. I'm expecting 81 eligible for 78 slots so some eligible team is staying home and if we get a sixth eligible anything can happen.
But currently it is the third longest G5 bowl streak, Boise State is longest, followed by San Diego State then AState.

We’ve played them all now. If I had to guess, I’d say we’re going back to Orlando. We also got to the play in the one and only bowl game in Lafayette, but that wasn’t part of the streak.

Forgot about Mizzou bowl ban
I'm expecting 80 for 78 spots. That said I'm probably on the optimistic side. I think UNC is going to get eligible and I think five of the MAC schools still with a shot to get eligible will make it.
Very possible some 5-7 get called up on APR if things don't bounce right.

I told someone the other day that Blake Anderson should be in the discussion for the Arkansas job. He's done an outstanding job.

I like Coach Anderson too much as a person to wish him into the dumpster that is Pig U.

Would the UA faithful go for something like that??? Doesn’t seem like that is something they would even consider.

They're so desperate now they'd even take Hugh Freeze.

They could might get Gus in the cheap. Auburn people have never liked him, and he’s possibly losing 5 games this season. You don’t pay $9 mil a year for that for long......

After 2015, there haven't been any A-State seasons that really set the world on fire. With Morris Arkansas was getting a guy who took over a dumpster fire at SMU and they got better every single year, so I thought it was a home run. For some reason, when Morris got out to Arkansas he decided to dump a bunch of gas on the dumpster fire. Oh well, it was a fun ride into the land of schadenfreude for me, and I'll never forget how good it felt to see others fail.
If A-State wins out, including the bowl game, we're talking about a very public nine-win season with all of the injury issues and very depressing off-field issues. The most impressive thing in college football is maintaining success at the G5 level, so maybe Arkansas looks to some stability in somebody like Blake.
There may still be some stigma around coaches from Arkansas schools up in Fayetteville though. Like, they probably should have gone after Malzahn after the 2012 season. I mean, he managed to beat ULM when Arkansas couldn't.
