Shoot. I was hoping our semifinal match (assuming we make it that far) would not overlap with the football game.

There's a link on the RiceOwls website to purchase tournament passes for $20.

That seems low, but if that's the actual price then that's a pretty good deal.

Spoke to Shu yesterday at the Aggie game-- $20 IS the actual price for the tournament pass.

WKU (19) and Rice (21) stay put in the coaches poll. California did drop, but San Diego moved ahead of Rice. After a 1-1 weekend, Illinois remains in the poll despite being 13-12 (RPI 45).

RE: 2019 CUSA Women's Volleyball Championship
Insanity with Illinois. How are they ahead of Michigan (who is 2-0 against Illinois this year and ahead of them in the Big 10?). Illinois is on the bubble for the NCAA tournament (and probably has to win out to make the field).

BTW, Kentucky beating Florida last week probably helps their regional hosting chances (and really hurts ours). Although Kentucky still could lose a match or two over the next two weeks (they host Missouri and Ole Miss, and go to LSU), which probably puts them again on a bubble as a host. Purdue probably needs to win out to be a host as well (and they play Michigan twice).

RE: 2019 CUSA Women's Volleyball Championship
C-USA Defensive Player of the Week - Grace Morgan, Rice, Sr., Crowley, La.
Morgan registered 10 blocks over six sets and a pair of No. 21 Rice (24-2, 13-1) wins this past weekend, helping the Owls set a program record with 13 conference wins. Morgan averaged 1.67 blocks per set and was a big reason why Rice held its opponents to hitting percentages of .097 and -.071, respectively. The senior also chipped in six digs as the team swept its final road swing at UTSA and UTEP. Offensively, Morgan hit .450 on 12 kills (2.0/set) and produced 3.08 points per set.

RE: 2019 CUSA Women's Volleyball Championship
I also wonder in looking at various teams' schedules if it hurts Rice to have a week off (Thanksgiving week in this case) between its final match and the NCAA tournament? Most larger conferences don't have a conference tournament but keep playing regular-season matches instead. Last year, we had 11 days off after winning the conference tournament and then losing in the first round of the NCAA's - so I wonder if that layoff made us a bit rusty against Texas State?

It would be pretty tough to schedule a match at the last moment I realize. SFA is one of those teams that does play in a conference tournament like us. Maybe next year it would make sense to schedule a match with them during that last week?

Rice is not playing well. Again, Volpe does not have them focused and prepared.
