Don't expect it to be quick. Munz said 10-14 days. I assume that 10-14 days started yesterday. In 10 days we will have played our 3 game without Wiseman. In 14 days we will have played our 4th game. I suspect the punishment is longer than that so it really doesn't matter except for the annoying wait.

I heard it's coming today or tomorrow.

I didn't.

Soon. But not today or tomorrow soon. Recruiting news tomorrow but not Wiseman news.

I think 4

I think the initial number is 9 and it's talked down to 6. Either way for Wiseman's sake I just hope it's settled soon.

Yeah about what about the punishment Memphis will get for playing Wiseman while ineligible? Forfeited games?

Do you think they are going to play that game when they already have agreed on a number?

Initially give 9 then we appeal and get the number we originally negotiated.

RE: any news on the settlement/punishment?
And how are forfeited games looked upon by the selection committee come tournament time? Are they as bad as losses.. or something less, as in the games aren't even considered? Has there ever been an example where a team going to the NCAA tournament had forfeitures on their resume, or will this be another first for Memphis?

Correction: not forfeited.. but vacated is a more appropriate term to use for the games. Doesn't sound as bad.

He needs to be back by the UT game. Hopefully only 3 or 4 games.

It's usually as a percentage of games; 10/20/30%.
So 3.1 games, 6.2 games or 9.3 games. They don't know about rounding down. So that becomes 4, 7 or 10. I expect it comes in at either 10 or 7 and they bump it down one level in appeal so 10 to 7 or 7 to 4.

The committee is evaluating the team based on their strength.

If they can take into account an injured player...I am sure we wont be punished if we have to forfeit the first 3 games.

Also we should also get a little cushion if we stumble while Wiseman is out.

I have zero information, but I wouldn't hold my breath. We've already pissed them off, I doubt they go too far out of their way to accommodate us.

I think it will be like the Ohio St treatment. Ohio St. never officially appealed. It was also never really officially announced that it was going to be 4 games just sources said they heard it would be 4 games. I'm sure there were negotiations going on where 4 was probably the first number and then it was negotiated down to 2.

Now I don't know if that's what is going on here or what, but the rule is a 1/3 of the season which would be 10, but I've thought 9 all along with it being negotiated down to something like 6 or 7

You don't vacate games. You only vacate wins. It doesn't change the loss for the other team. In a forfeited game they change the Wins to Losses. They haven't forced a team to forfeit a game in over 20 years but they vacate games all the time.

“It does not benefit the NCAA in the grand scheme to have Wiseman — potential must-see TV for fans to sit out” for a extended period of time and so the UT game is a must. Cant see him sitting past 2 weeks so 3 or 4 games imo

Gotcha. Nobody knows the answer as to exactly when, but the consensus seems to be VERY soon with even today or tomorrow not ruled out. But nobody knows exactly when.

Not comforted after Penny’s press conference this afternoon. Sounds less like a settlement and more like we are waiting for the hammer to drop. Doesn’t sound anything like the behind the scenes gentleman’s agreement everyone was speculating about yesterday
