The Broncos entered Friday's contest undefeated at 3-0, averaging 93.7 ppg as the 14th-highest scoring team in the country. WMU is facing a Mississippi team for the second time this week after defeating Mississippi Valley State 91-81 Tuesday night (Nov. 12). Prior to that, the Broncos collected a thrilling 115-110 triple overtime victory at Milwaukee. Western Michigan has gotten to the free throw line more than any team in the nation (123), while making the most free throws (93) as well. Preseason First Team All-MAC honoree Michael Flowers leads the Broncos in scoring at 25.3 ppg, ranking 17th nationwide. The junior guard has been on fire from beyond the arc, making 13 of his 17 attempts for a 76.5 percent clip (third nationally). Brandon Johnson is averaging a double-double for the Broncos, recording 16.0 ppg and 10.7 rpg. Western Michigan was picked to finish fifth in the Mid-American Conference's West Division, and Steve Hawkins is in his 17th season as head coach of the Broncos.

I think we are witnessing the last season for Hawk.

Expectations were low this year... but it’s also an easy out for the administration...

I for one am ready for some new blood at the helm... I love Hawk... he’s been an amazing ambassador for this team an university and I’m certain he stays on within the athletic department as an assistant AD and potentially next AD...

But...

I think it’s time we start thinking about where we go from here. This team is gonna claw and scratch out some wins... we will win some we shouldn’t... but how many seasons like this do we have to go through?

Flush. We’ve talked about this ad nauseam. We are gonna be 3-1 after this loss. WMU isn’t Duke, UNC, Kentucky, or Kansas. Hawk will be head coach for as long as he wants to be head coach.

I understand. And I’m happy we are doing decent... it’s not tonight’s game as much as it’s just time...
