RE: @ Davidson (Saturday, Nov 16 - 7 PM)
Beyond the inability to coach the players he has, my biggest concern is the fact he has done so poorly recruiting post players. HE KNEW he had Cacok for two years. He recruited a one and done grad transfer and Linssen for the 5 spot. That's it. Dodd is not a center, he's a power forward. As a result of this gaping hole in our recruiting we have no post presence on offense or defense at all. Compound this with the fact he is trying to play a 4 guard set with no press, and there is little chance we field a decent team this year or anytime in the future.

We were actually at a size disadvantage against Campbell.....CAMPBELL. Wait until we hit CAA play.

The offense sounded over the radio like we weren't playing together and sharing the ball, but I didn't see the game. That can be corrected with practice and we have great young men that are willing to share the ball.

Yes, a zone press or some type of pressure would suit this team to me. With nothing to lose in the 2nd half, it would have seemed like a good time to try it.

Does the staff go out and try to get another big to augment? And, that's not a knock on Linsen or Dodd either because both are progressing. You would think that would be a priority. Need to have a big guy that can defend in the post. That was a huge factor, but not the only one.

Bill watching the game tells a different story. I watched every single minute(sadly). When they beat us outside it had almost zero to do when we doubled the big man.

We have one in particular that just shoots and shoots quick, and it’s been awful. We have a few others that can score but have cold nights regularly. Last night was one of those where they were all cold.

I agree with Hawking. Platooning and subbing so much is only going to work if we press and press a lot. Clearly coach isn’t going to do that, which, IMO will ultimately cost him his job. I’d bet if games keep looking like this he may not make it to the end of the season.

Last night was entirely unacceptable.

Agree with you. One other point in regards to the subbing, clearly we are going to rely on the outside shot. When you sub like that it’s next to impossible for anyone to find any kind of rhythm shooting the ball

I said from day one that CB was a great guy, but not going to cut it as a HC...It caused a lot of pissy comments directed at me. I hoped....and STILL hope I was wrong, but I don't believe that to be the case.

No you were not wrong. Great guy but the second I met him it was obvious just not head coach personality. He is probably an awesome first assistant. He has won 33% of his games and I doubt he does any better this yer. Now just a matter of timing which stinks because Bass hired him and would have to acknowledge his own mistake which I don't think is his strength.

RE: @ Davidson (Saturday, Nov 16 - 7 PM)
It was early last season when I started pointing out serious concern over the HC on this team based solely on the particular 'actions' or 'non-actions' I saw on the court in games. No in game adjustments. Defensive rules or lack thereof, not using players strengths (Cacok as a Post Up player), burying 2 veteran players who may have had attitude problems but could have been dealt with so that the team could succeed, no zone and not being able to adjust his 3pt defense.

Then it got to the point where I was calling him out for being inept. Even early this season and after wins. A win does not cover this kind of negligence or lack of coaching ability. It also does not make anyone forget that he gave a scholarship to a 'walk on' instead of finding a proper BIG to compete in the CAA. I'm sure if we win a couple of the next 3 games everyone will forget again what we already know, and that is that this guy can't coach/teach to the level that is 'expected' at UNCW. We are in the basement of the CAA folks in year 3 of the McGrath era. AND he finally has all 'his' guys. "Championship here we come!"
