MyBB WISEMAN ....Shouldn’t Start
This will seem like an afterthought.... Will also be condoned as ludicrous by some.....I thought this all yesterday and it came to light....There is an immense amount of pressure from the attention on this team...A lot rides on the shoulders of Wise...To help alleviate nervousness; feeling of necessity to perform; quick whistles and maybe allow the team to get into a rhythm an build momentum....just a thought, however I believe it would possibly benefit the squad as a whole, since so much attention is on Wiseman..... The other players would get a chance to gel and play defense as a unit.... instead of relying on Wise....

Wiseman had 14&12 (double double) in 22 minutes, and you want him not to start?

That’s a little crazy. Keep playing him regardless. I hope Kustoff and company investigating this finds out who is behind it, what coaches complained, and if there was a payoff by people to do this to him and Memphis.

RE: WISEMAN ....Shouldn’t Start
I think this point holds value for those who want what's best for the program long term and believe the NCAA will give us credit for "time served."

I, however, don't see the NCAA as an honest, transparent institution providing a level playing field with student athletes best interest at heart. I think forcing their hand is a better option. Playing Wiseman:
1) applies pressure to NCAA. They may nail us to the cross to make an example out of us (prob would anyway). Or it may entice them to discuss options for closing out his case because it also
2) brings bad publicity regarding amateurism at a time when the NCAA doesn't need negative press regarding amateurism.
3) It also allows our coaches and university to show support for their student athletes and
4) allows our elite players to get proper exposure to NBA scouts as well as build brand that is helpful for marketing in years to come.

Ya, let's not start the possible #1 pick in next year's draft... That will bode well for current winning and future recruiting...

RE: WISEMAN ....Shouldn’t Start
If he had a 10 game suspension, we could have him back for Georgia and start of AAC play. We'd also lose him for Mississippi, NC State and Tennessee.

I'd bet most would rather beat Tennessee and have to vacate the win than to straight up lose to Tennessee because we didn't play someone. I still hate that DW didn't play against UT in football. Idk what happened, and it was most-likely warranted, but dayyyum.

First foul he was caught on a rotation...

2nd foul was BS.

He committed one more foul the remainder of the game.

He will be fine.

Well, I indeed feel it is ludicrous if you are saying he should come off the bench. He got into early foul trouble with one very questionable call. Penny decided to sit him the remainder of the half because the other guys were keeping us in striking distance. He started the second half and started to show his dominance. So yeah, if he is playing it's a no brainer to start him, but sitting him out all together until the issue circling around him is resolved is maybe up for debate...although I'm with keep playing until the courts say he can't.

Yeah. By all respects he didn't have a very good game (for him), looked awkward and frustrated dealing with the zones and double teams and.... still managed to get a double-double in limited minutes.

Regardless of any other considerations, based on what he gives you on the court there's no reason not to start him

Understand how MOST won't understand this logic......However, it serves a lot of immediate and long-term remedies.....Understand these are UNUSUAL circumstances , so many of the initial responses DON'T apply.....One must really this OUTSIDE the box.....Chess....NOT checkers....

For immediate team goals....The TEAM also feels the pressure of the media attention.....NOT just from Wise being such a highly-touted recruit.....But also because of the "eligibility" situation.....Go back to the vid (post-game) from UIC with DJ & Boogie, where they were giggling uncontrollably, from being pressured to discuss Wise....What was the media expecting them to say? I understand their point-of-view! " Why are you asking me"?

For immediate TEAM goals, these players need to gel, QUICKLY...To be able to START the game and NOT rely on Wise, COULD be a remedy for them to bond through their OWN adversity initially instead of having a scapegoat or an excuse of why they aren't in sync.....

Precious needs to work on post positioning; moves; rebounding; toughness and learn to be dominant....This forces him to play a more dominant role that he can build upon and be forced to secure the post before he considers doing ANY other work...

DJ gets to start.....his game is versatile, his role needs to be bigger.....allow DJ to rotate; play multiple positions and help facilitate our offense and put pressure on the perimeter, assisting the guards with their switching assignments....

Wise is going to get his work in,either way....It NOT like he has to warm-up....He's Mr. IMMEDIATE IMPACT.....He could check-in at the first timeout after the squad has played with intense effort and pressure for the first 4 minutes and bring a burst of ENERGY that obviously NOONE else can inject into from our current rotations....

Finally, although I realize that we are going to play this circumstance out, I'm ALL for that direction.....it kind of appears as though, he's being placed in timeout during the processes..... 03-idea and our position on this doesn't appear "as if" we're flipping the NCAA and the h8ers the "bird"

RE: WISEMAN ....Shouldn’t Start
I don't necessarily disagree. When he's in the rest of the team is so hyper-focused on getting him the ball they ignore the double and triple teams we saw last night leading to turnovers. I also think it's not fair to put the onus on an 18 year old freshman. But, he's our star so I'm not sure what message not starting might send.

RE: WISEMAN ....Shouldn’t Start
The team probably played better with him out of the lineup yesterday at least in stretches. I do think that was primarily because they tried forcing the ball in to him instead of running the offense like they were without him.

Wiseman is averaging 34 ppg, 19 rpg and 5 bpg per 40 minutes. No coach on any team in the country would put him on the bench to start the game.

Actually, Pastner would if he got caught by the train and was late to practice. 03-lmfao
