He didnt lose any jobs. Porter started alongside him because he was our best player.

The concept of 5 players being pegged into 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots went away years ago. If you wanted to peg Stith, he would have been undersized when he was the “big player” on the court.

In reference to the Maury kid ... maybe he will grow some into a more natural PF, maybe he will develop more of a SF skill set and be a good hybrid forward, or maybe he will use his size and quickness successfully against bigger power forwards to be successful at the position - assuming he can defend them at the other end which will likely be the greater issue.

Our level is G5 and hoping to win CUSA and get a tourney bid. You can't compete for recruits that are 6-10 and worth a damn (without significant development). The teams that are most successful take the undersize 6-5 power forward that is a baller but larger programs didn't want.

When is the last time that ODU had a successful team while starting a 6'-5" power forward?

Last year. And I dont know that Brandon stith was much of 6-5 (if any) despite what he was listed at.

Not true. Last season's starting power forward was 6'-7" Aaron Carver.

Aaron Carver is not 6-7.

Correct...he's 6'6". Brandon Stith was 6'7" his senior year.

That's just wrong. People routinely refer to players as playing the 1,2,3,4,or 5 positions in describing them. They will also use the noun names for those positions, i.e. point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center. You of course know that. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing.

Glad to see you finally got it figured out about Porter as him starting at the 5 where Brandan had played before him is what I had been saying. Didn't say that Brandan went to the bench because of Porter. That's some smoke screen that you tried to interject while doing your Captain Obvious impersonation in stating that "Brandan started every game as a senior". Duh.

Right or wrong I use the heights listed by Old Dominion regarding their players. I'm sure you have personally measured him to know within a 1/4" what his true height without shoes is, but the Old Dominion web page lists him as being 6'-7", and has for years.

Our players are all 2 inches shorter than the program listed heights. Everyone else’s roster is 100 percent correct. Where have you been?

The point is to not be worried about listed heights. The though that you cant win with a 6-5 or 6-6 forward is nonsense. Heck, we did so last year.

Clarence Rupert was on his official visit.

We also offered Eric van der Heijden, a 2021 SF from Millbrook NC this weekend.

Boy would he have been a perfect BT recruit. More rebounds per game than assists. Only shoots 63% FT. And under 30% 3 pointers.
