As though there are reasons to be positive about Odu basketball right now? Lol

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2021
a lot of you in here are critical of me for being so negative about JJ and his program. I feel the same way about you sugar coating everything he does or even doesn't do! If this is a LOVE JJ only site then I am definitely out of line. However, it is supposed to be about recruiting which ooses with negativity. Suggestion, why doesn't someone create a "I Love JJ" site so you can all go and talk about what a great man he is, how he runs a clean program and how winning doesn't really matter as long as it's ODU.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2021
I know that this is a "2021 Recruiting" thread, but it seems like this ship has sailed. The reality is that the program is not where it needs to be. What we have next year is the remains of the 4th best (if that) CUSA team that will have less talent than what we saw last year. Unless a few of our incoming freshmen really shock the world, we have no chance at the dance. Call it "negative" if you will, but that's a reality that is no fun to face 6 months before the season begins. This program should be consistently in the top 100, mostly top 75, and often in the Top 50 in the at-large discussion. Those are minimum expectations.

We should be good enough for VCU to hate us instead of feel sorry for us.

Curry transferred out because, in his own words, he wanted a chance to play in the NCAA Tournament. I'm not sure he improved his chances much, but who can argue with his reasoning?

Nothing wrong with wanting the program to improve. The self loathing we are the worst team in America is what some people get tired of reading from a select few just about every day. There is a wide gap between the best and worst but some dans don’t understand that. And more importantly write multiple self loathing-posts about it daily.

Never said we were the worst team in America! I said JJ is the worst recruiter in Div 1 mens basketball and still think so.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2021
It seems to me the folks who complain about JJ are passionate about our BB program and want us to succeed. Sorry, but I am in their camp. You don’t see me whining every day about it on here, but I am so frustrated with the Jones coaching years, I could spit nails. Yes, the Taylor years were not all great, but we always had hope we would succeed and go to the NCAA’s. For the last 8 years, its the same old sh$t year after year. No hope of going to the dance. Just boring basketball with average players.
So, you can make fun and condemn these posters and their constant complaining, but they are 100% correct. Enough is enough. No more mediocre basketball. We need a new coach and hopefully soon.
And while we are at it, please also show Woody the door too.
Go Monarchs! A Monarch for Life.

And please stop blaming CUSA for our below average performance and poor recruiting. Memphis dominated this league with a large footprint. There is zero reason, in my humble opinion, we haven’t dominated this league too. Just a bad coaching hire by Woody....

Memphis dominated while being in the geographical center of the league AND when the league had money, games on TV and opponents people cared about. Being in the far NE corner of the league with no exposure hurts. Having games on TV regionally would certainly help. Part of why we were so good in the CAA was we were in the middle of the conference footprint. It’s also why we would do well quickly in the AAC or A10. Increased fan excitement and attendance plus media exposure and regional rivals equals a big recruiting bump IMO.

I agree with all you say. But, having an exciting product on the court would greatly help too. Not the boring basketball we’ve seen the last 8 years. Young kids today want to play fast, exciting ball. Fans like it too.

Western Michigan transfer Greg Lee (@Just_Greg_) tells me that he plans on announcing his commitment June 6th.

Lee is down to ECU, Penn State, Old Dominion, Arkansas, Illinois, and Fordham.

13.0 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 2.4 APG for Lee this past year.

Anyone want to place bets whether we land him or not?

As long as we do not lose him to ECU, I won't complain too much. But I have to think we can offer him playing time and a significant opportunity to be an impact player over a place like Illinois or Arkansas that probably have rosters full of highly regarded players.

Becasue JJ is personally trying to piss you off at every turn. He purposefully tells recruits not to come because if he signed a 6'10" guy who can pound the post and shoot well, you would have nothing to ***** about. He has your well being in mind. 04-cheers 03-lmfao
