RE: Where's Fickles' radio show tonight
I mentioned in the game thread that Dan H said on the game's radio broadcast that CLF said something like this at a UC Bicentennial Bash Friday night. Here's some follow-up from tonight's coach's show via Chad (although to me, Dan's version sounded a bit more definitive by CLF than this one.):

I dont put any faith in coach speak regarding satisfaction with a situation. But seeing his name spelled that way makes me hungry for good pickles. You all had those hot and sweet from McClure's, sandwich crack right there, hard to make a bad sandwich with those involved. Best food item from Detroit in a while.

I fully believe that is what in Fickell's heart. Unexpected opportunities can make you do things you weren't planning on doing though. I'll be rooting for Franklin to remain at PSU. I think he'd go to ND if offered but he's not done enough to be high profile enough for ND.

I agree. It's not too different from statements made by previous dearly departed coaches before the moving vans showed up. But it's all about context and Luke is Ohio born and bred, has a top 25 team a hundred miles from his hometown and makes more money than any other college football coach in this state save one. That combination is different from his predecessors and may bode well for UC.

Dantonio made no qualms about wanting a Big Ten job after leaving OSU
Kelly was a self-professed "Boston Catholic" who got an offer from Notre Dame
Jones was a merc for hire who was clearly climbing
Tuberville was a bloated corpse rolling around on the sidelines towards a retirement check
Fickell is a man who has lived outside of Ohio for all of 8 months and has a family with six kids ranging from 6 to 16

One is not like the others, which genuinely makes me believe what he is saying. I was exceptionally skeptical of Kelly and Jones, and that ended up being the right way to treat them...Fickell on the other hand really has me thinking he might be the guy for a few cycles.

Lordy when we start assuming we know what is in a guy’s heart whom we have never met it’s a one ingredient recipe for bummersville. He’ll stay or he’ll go. Sorta like the people you work with at your own job.

Why can't I just cheer for winning without all you fans telling me why the coach will stay? This is a nice spot for any coach looking to make a name for himself. Just leave it better than you found it, go get a larger paycheck elsewhere, and you are welcome to sit on a float at every homecoming, right?

Why do YOU have to talk about the coach leaving? He said he don't want to move his family again and why can't we leave it at that and enjoy the winning? Why do you care? Why be so focused on that? Nothing he said that night was coach speak.not once in his career has Fickell been disingenuous and now all of a sudden we are assigning foreign characteristics to his personality?

You are the annoying one. You are the one focused on negativity. I know you are going to come back calling yourself a realist but I would call it pessimism. You know nothing, everything isn't coach speak, and nobody likea your opinion. Let's focus on winning.
