RE: Memphis up by 3 to # 18 in CFP
I mean 3-loss Texas jumped from Not Ranked last week, all the way to #19. They are really the one that bumped SMU out.
They did beat K-State last week with a last second FG.
The week before that, they lost to TCU by 10.
The week before that, they beat Kansas with a last second FG.
The week before that, they lost to Oklahoma.
3 losses. 2-2 in last 4 games, with both wins on game ending FGs.
It's goofy.

Texas does have 3 losses, but two of those loses were to LSU and OU by a touchdown each. It's not that unusual they would be ranked ahead of 1 loss G5's.

I really don't think the CFP committee puts a lot of effort into deciding anything but the top 4 teams. They probably give it to the 1-loss Boise team.

They will give it to Appalachian State

But they were not ranked last week.
They also have a loss to TCU.
SMU actually beat TCU.
They have lost one-third of their games played. IMO, there is no serious place in CFP rankings for teams who lose a game every 3 weeks.

I agree that they shouldn't be ranked ahead of SMU. But I also think it's reasonable that they are currently RANKED. If they continue to lose every 3 weeks they will fall out.

They beat NC and SC. It would be fitting if they got to play Clemson.
