i believe he would be a serious candidate for USC when it comes open, and it will.

Norvell was at ASU and knows the PAC12 and recruiting there.

He'd be a young fresh dynamic exciting coach leading a dynastic inner city program in a weak PAC12, that would take VERY LITTLE to turn it around to national greatness again.

Or he could go to Arkansas, a dumpster fire program in THE MOST DIFFICULT DIVISION in all of college football.

I would be damned scared of the USC job. It just doesnt seem to be what it once was. Also seems that the fans have lost a lot of interest.

If you watch his interview on the Vernon show, he made comments about playing late games in the PAC 12 and that he did not like it at all. Games starting at 9pm on the west coast.

FWIW (which is nothing really), someone on the Arky 247 board said they knew someone who is a friend of Norvell's and MN had turned down the FSU job.

California is a horrible place to raise a family. We just escaped from there. When you can make the kind of money he is going to make, being close to family and having your family happy trump pretty much everything. Norvell's day to day life would be much better in Arkansas than in California, imo, and it's not even close.

When you can make the kind of money he is going to make, being close to family and having your family happy trump pretty much everything. Norvell's day to day life would be much better in Arkansas than in California, imo, and it's not even close.

While I totally want MN to stay here for the next 30 years, the pull of family is strong. For anyone with lots of family/friends in a beautiful setting, the Fayetteville, Eureka Springs and Bentonville areas are a lot nicer than you think.

Just my take on it, but USC demands immediate results or they'll leave you high and dry on the tarmac. I'm not saying Norvell wouldn't be successful there, but I think he'd have to have the team positioned for the playoffs in year 2 or his seat would get pretty warm. The lowest they'd accept is Rose Bowl every single year.

He'd have a little more time at FSU to rebuild. Granted, Strong was given the boot in less than 2 years, but come on, the man coached in Florida previously but argued that his players lost the first game this year because they were dehydrated. Really??? As a Memphis fan, I'm a little more concerned if FSU comes calling. I just hope having another coach who cut his teeth in the AAC has left a bad taste in their mouth for now and they go fishing in another pond.
