MyBB News Articles on Wiseman
USA Today Sports
The NCAA suddenly has a huge problem: How Memphis could change everything

From the article:
Quote:But now the NCAA faces perhaps an even greater challenge, with the University of Memphis openly defying the organization and opting to play one of its top players, James Wiseman, despite Wiseman being potentially “ineligible.” This is more than a seismic shift; it’s internal hemorrhaging that threatens college sports as we know it. Because Memphis is the NCAA — it’s an association of schools, after all — and now an ex-NBA star, Tigers coach Penny Hardaway, and his school president are openly challenging the foundation of how college sports has been administered.

RE: News Articles on Wiseman
Bad article, it left out that a key point in the lawsuit is that the NCAA deemed Wiseman eligible, later said they made a mistake and maybe he shouldn't be eligible, but they will stick by their ruling and he is eligible. Then 2 days into the season this crap all started. First pronouncing him likely ineligible.

That's a big deal. If they had never pronounced Wiseman eligible all sorts of other things would have happened this summer.

THIS is the point I’ve been hammering too! Wiseman has the NCAA dead to right on breaching good faith and fair deal

They promised to honor his eligibility and then jerked him around and ruled him ineligible. They can claim that they have a right to interpret their bylaws any way they see fit but that’s not going to fly in court when James relied on the good faith of the NCAA and then they reneged on it. He had sound options at his disposal in May and they thereafter acted in bad dealings with him

That's the whole thing. Wiseman was told he was eligible in May and then was told they may have made a mistake, but they'll stand by the "eligible" decision. Then months later said, forget anything we already told you, you're now likely ineligible. That's beyond ridiculous.

Yep People are incorrectly characterizing the case. If the NCAA would have ruled Wiseman not eligible initially we wouldn't be having this fight.

Secondly it is not Memphis who is suing...It is Wiseman.

Wiseman is not challenging NCAA rules he is challenging the fairness of changing the rules which ultimately will affect his earnings potential.

Much of this will hinge on whether it is seen a reasonable that deeming Hardaway a booster is legitimate. But I still say to notify us right before the first game is BS and done to be as hard to defend ourselves against as possible.
