MyBB Temple Basketball (2019-20) Update
Temple's off to a 2-0 start, with wins over Drexel (70-62) and Morgan State (75-57).

Summary: Temple scored an average of 72.5 points per game - despite hitting only 35.35% of their FGA - while holding their first two opponents to an average of 59.5 points (13 point average scoring differential).

Thus far, Temple has been led by its starting back court (Nate Pierre-Louis, Quinton Rose, and Alani Moore), with adequate support from its front court and bench players.

Monty Scott, who had been expected to be an impact player & high scorer, was reported (via Temple's radio broadcast) to have had an unspecified concussion two weeks ago. He has struggled in his first two games, and only played 15 minutes in game 2.

Temple with only 11 eligible scholarship players (two redhirt transfers) is also playing without freshman Guard Damian Dunn, who is expected to be a significant contributor when he returns from a foot injury in a few weeks.

Temple is running a core rotation of 8 Juniors and Seniors, with the assistance of two freshmen (JPL & Arashma Parks), who played 11 and 8 minutes in game 2, respectively, contributing a total of 5 pts, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist in 19 minutes of game 2 action.

Due in part to the effective play of a game-changing 5 guard defensive unit, Temple's three players at the Center position have only played 29 and 27 minutes in games 1 and 2, including 9 minutes by freshman Arashma Parks who thus far hasn't registered any box score statistics. PF JP Moorman has also played a few mpg at the Center position.

Temple's fortunes, going forward, will depend to some extent on developmental factors including Monty Scott's playing status, improvements in play by Temple's freshmen players, and the amount of time required for Dunn's foot to recover fully.

Overall, the two main surprises in games 1 and 2, other than Scott's situation have been the team's lower-than-expected shooting percentage and their ability to hold their opponents to 59.5 ppg.

Temple Team FG%, FG3%
game 1 43.1%, 33.3% (Opponent: 34.8%, 20.0%)

Would be clearer to readers if you revise and separate out 2 and 3-point shooting percentages, and not give overall fg percentages. Agree it should go in other site. .

Yes, I agree about that completely. Unfortunately, sports-reference.com only had the game 1 data when I was working on this, so all I had to go from on game 2 was the raw box score data.

Next time, will wait until sports-reference.com has all the data on it before posting an update.

Some of the Temple fans like this info, and have suggested it's a good idea for a Sun/Mon update. I agree with them. The other site is best for other things (detailed or in-depth discussions).
