you do realize that we did not even have a football team a few years ago. its hard to build depth when you are stocking up on JUCO's just to be able to field a team. we lost most of our starters. if they look like this next year then its time to worry.

RE: UAB USM Game Thread
The not having a football team excuse & discussion by the media should be over.
We had been on NFL Network prior this year yet they still brought it up.
It is getting quite old.
We seem to not be able to have a backup QB who is ready for anything yet Southern Miss pulls them out left & right from every podunk town without problems.
Would have been a great opportunity to even let Lucero get some snaps however we probably didn't give him any reps in practice this past week. Looks like we didn't even get the backup QB any snaps.
The offense is quite bad even with Johnston in the game. Can't run. Can't move it with short passes. (Passes 10+ yards forward versus passes 4 yards backwards)
The defense had enough to worry about yesterday without the offense screwing the pooch.
Even then the defense while doing pretty good gave up way too many deep passes, slants, QB runs, etc.
We can win the next game screwing the pooch but we will get hammered by La Tech.
I wouldn't expect Johnston or Brown back in any other game before a bowl game.

I hope we spend the week preparing for UTEP and not La Tech. The Miners led Charlotte yesterday 21-7 at half and played USM closer than we did (37-13).

UTEP has improved, for sure. We should be able to out-talent them though. No way we'll beat Louisiana Tech, but stranger things have happened.

I drove down and had a great time in Hattiesburg, outside of the 3 hours during the game, what a good college town. Defense played well I thought, but this game has made it clear that there needs to be a change at OC.
