It's amazing the level of ignorance you can read between the lines with a career politician, who has never held a real job and never learned even the basics of business that you would learn the first day at an entry-level position.

If you taxed Gates on a recurring basis by his "net worth", obviously, it would result in the eventual collapse of Microsoft. He is Microsoft. His "net worth" isn't just cash sitting in a checking account, it is tied up in his company. Over time, he's going to have nothing left. The second he begins liquidating that amount of stock, no one is going to want to be left holding the bag, everyone is going to sell and it's going to plummet.

I can't believe we're even having this discussion. I'm no shill for billionaires, I don't like Gates, I hate Bezos, but this proposal is beyond ridiculous.

My problem with tim pool is that he is way too quick to go off on these weird tangents and hypothetical examples, which just aren't necessary. Keep it simple, beanie man.

This is the level of stupidity we're dealing with. If I'm "worth" $106.8 billion, they legitimately believe that I can liquidate $100 billion this afternoon and still be a billionaire.

When in reality, with all the downward pressure you're putting on the stock, I'd be lucky to get a fraction of that, I'd still owe, I'd be bankrupt, and you would have been successful in destroying a great, American company. Maybe that is the goal?

the real discussion that's being ignored is revamping our fed tax system with a consumer based consumption tax and corporate VAT...
