Forensic accounting.

There is the BSA reporting of cash transactions. BSA is Bank Secrecy Act.
If you were a financial institution officer or director like I am you would know that any cash transaction over $5,000 must be reported to the IRS.
If by check or wire the tracking is easy.

Ummm, I am neither an institution officer nor director, but the amount is $10k.

doss, really starting to question your background.
DS Please read the $5,000 as noted below about SAR Reporting. Out of a multitude of caution almost all financial institutions report any transaction of $5,000 or more or a series of transactions.

Suspicious Activity Reporting — Overview Objective. Assess the bank’s policies, procedures, and processes, and overall compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements for monitoring, detecting, and reporting suspicious activities. Suspicious activity reporting forms the cornerstone of the BSA reporting system. It is critical to the United States’ ability to utilize financial information to combat terrorism, terrorist financing, money laundering, and other financial crimes. Examiners and banks should recognize that the quality of SAR content is critical to the adequacy and effectiveness of the suspicious activity reporting system. Within this system, FinCEN and the federal banking agencies recognize that, as a practical matter, it is not possible for a bank to detect and report all potentially illicit transactions that flow through the bank. Examiners should focus on evaluating a bank’s policies, procedures, and processes to identify, evaluate, and report suspicious activity. However, as part of the examination process, examiners should review individual SAR filing decisions to determine the effectiveness of the bank’s suspicious activity identification, evaluation, and reporting process. Banks, bank holding companies, and their subsidiaries are required by federal regulations53 to file a SAR with respect to: • Criminal violations involving insider abuse in any amount. • Criminal violations aggregating $5,000 or more when a suspect can be identified. • Criminal violations aggregating $25,000 or more regardless of a potential suspect. • Transactions conducted or attempted by, at, or through the bank (or an affiliate) and aggregating $5,000 or more, if the bank or affiliate knows, suspects, or has reason to suspect that the transaction: – May involve potential money laundering or other illegal activity (e.g., terrorism financing).54 – Is designed to evade the BSA or its implementing regulations.55 – Has no business or apparent lawful purpose or is not the type of transaction that the particular customer would normally be expected to engage in, and the bank knows of no reasonable explanation for the transaction after examining the available facts, including the background and possible purpose of the transaction. A transaction includes a deposit; a withdrawal; a transfer between accounts; an exchange of currency; an extension of credit; a purchase or sale of any stock, bond, certificate of deposit,

There is something crummy about this. When I was a student I could have gotten a loan from a friend if I needed it. Why can’t an athlete? Some of the NCAA stuff is crap. Hudson could not play but Burrow and Fields can.

I call BS on the NCAA.

Define "friend". Coach is my friend. So is my new friend: mega-booster doss biggest. They say they'll loan me $2M interest-free and I don't have to pay it back for 25 years. I'm sure you can see it's basically just a payment. On a certain market level, maybe that should be OK, but the schools collectively have said it's not via the NCAA.

Hypothetically, they could change their rules to allow everything if they wanted to but it further begs the question (even more than it is already begged) of why even have college sports and athletic scholarships at all? Just set up minor leagues for all sports for which it's feasible and make all college sports intra-mural. Somebody wants to pay you to play a game? Go for it, that's your business. Want a education and to play some sports on the side for fun? Hey welcome to college.

Well that would explain the timing.

Miss the two easiest games on the schedule then come back well rested with a vengeance for the stretch run.

Yep, the timing was too perfect to suggest this wasn't known for some time and disclosed strategically to coincide with games against two of the worst B10 teams--if not two of the worst teams in all of college football this season.

Are you suggesting that O$U let the information about Young's loan to leak out immediately before the Suckeyes' monumental confrontations against Maryland and Rutgers and then volunteered a two-game suspension? What a sacrifice. Absolute paragons of virtue, those folks up in Columbus.

Don't hate because they know how to work the system. Hate the system for allowing certain schools to work around it.

At least he repaid it. He's by far one of my top two favorite buckeyes over the last decade. Again seems like a great kid that made a minor mistake.

Yeah! Don't blame Ohio St. for knowing how to cheat.

Congratulations on your very solid ONE LOSS season.

Also, I have a ton of respect for your head coach. His last name is spelled Fickell for those of you who have not caught on yet.

F.I.C.K.E.L.L.

The man is giving you guys 110% and some of you can't even take the time to know his name.

Best of luck the rest of the season!

Bearcats!!

Thinking about this after the visceral reaction to the wrist slap of a "punishment," o$u actually played this wrong. They can beat both michigan and psu without Chase. You suspend him for the remainder of the regular season and continue to beat the competition without him you make a way better case that you are #1, especially with how precious the CFB Playoff Committee seems to value the b10. Bringing him back makes it look like the Cheaters won again, which, in effect, they did. it may not affect the rankings but it's something they deservedly will have to deal with in the media from here on out.

I've heard no evidence of this.

https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...ers-return

Per ESPN, "Although Young repaid the loan, the NCAA considers it an extra benefit because Young didn't meet the friend until after his recruitment to Ohio State had started."

*Reportedly* it was a loan to fly GF out to Rose Bowl.

Like most said when this came out, it will be a non story in a couple of weeks unless Chase Young was lying.

I know when I was in college, I met all kinds of new friends who would load me $11,500 to fly my girlfriend to the west coast, even though I had no job and no legitimate way to pay the loan back.
