Loaded question...
Watching the Temple/USF game. Why couldn't Temple's offence be that inept when they played us? Otherwise known as, our offensive line better come to play in 2 weeks.

Temple defense winning this game. Their offense has only scored 10 points.

RE: Loaded question...
If Brady White doesn’t have the terrible first quarter we win by 3 TDS. They one by two and kicked like 5 FGs and still took a bogus call for them to win. 99/100 times Memphis wins that game, but it might just be the motivation this team needed to make it to the Cotton Bowl this season.

RE: Loaded question...
I agree with that, but I'm talking about USF's defense in this game. In other words, our offense is going to have to deal with this USF defense that has only allowed 10 offensive points by Temple.

If we get SMU Brady White it won’t matter. Using USFs defense when playing Temple for what Memphis has to play against is not a good comparison, IMO. Memphis has one of the best offenses in the country and I really think that Temple loss was a complete fluke.

It's easy to forget just how rare undefeated football seasons actually are. We have seen many more the last 10 years that we used to see.

True, I just hate that Temple loss with a burning passion because we beat the two best teams in the AAC west and yet we still might not make the AAC champ game because of the horrendous call that put the final nails in our coffin in that game.

RE: Loaded question...
Strange ending to the game. USF down by 10 with 2 minutes to go and they didn’t call timeouts or seem to try to win the game. It would have been a miracle finish, but stranger things have happened. I certainly would expect my team to give it a shot...

Wow... at least we know for certain we will have the coaching advantage in 2 weeks... that was some stupid time management.

Defense was solid at Temple. It was bad against ULM and Tulsa for sure. It was meh against SMU.

Against Temple it was solid considering the tough situations they were put in time after time in the first quarter.

Temple had 450 total yards and almost 200 yards rushing...They only have 2 games better than that...Bucknell and ECU.

I understand the defense held up in some critical situations but they gave up way more yards and points than they should have against Temple.

Our defense was on the field that entire game. Holding Temple to 3 FGs off of turnovers in the first quarter was huge! But the damage was done to the stamina....
Sure, it wasn’t perfect, and there were some costly penalties (ahem) but they scored a TD after another Turnover in the 2nd half too.

Points off Turnovers = 16 points.
Total points = 30

D gave up 14 points nonTO related drives, caused 2 fumbles, and forced Temple to 37% conversions on third down.

Memphis was only down 2 points and driving on the last TO in the 2nd half, when we fumbled, they took it down and scored. 14 points swing.

I’m offended someone says our D layed an egg.

Temples O is not that good. Good for USF. Watched the whole game. Both teams are mediocre....
It’s a shame we lost and our D is not as great as the stats...and sure, to go undefeated would ask our D to overcome turnovers, but it isn’t that good and was unrealistic.

You can be offended...But look at the stats...

The defense was on the field the entire game because they gave up 27 first downs many on 3rd down conversions.

Temple put 450 yards of offense their 3rd most of the season...Only behind Bucknell and ECU.

And the turnover deal is true yet overblown...

1st Interceptions...Yes good job there to hold them to 3
1st Fumble...Yes good job to give up 3 points
2nd Fumble...Bad job to give up 3 points we turned it over on their 15 yard line
3rd Fumble...Bad job to give up 7 points...Turnover on Temples side of the field

So to say that defense only gave up 14 non turnover points doesn't tell the whole story.

The defense didn't lay an egg at Temple. If anything they kept Memphis in the game.

They had 4 extra possessions because of turnovers.

Didn't get off the field on 3rd down?

Temple was 6-16 on third down that's 37%. That's pretty solid on defense considering that's 4 extra possessions that Temple may not have had if not for turnovers.

That's Temple's avg for the season. Memphis avg on defense giving up 3rd down conversions is 39%.

The last two games it's been an issue for the defense getting off the field on 3rd down. Over 50% given up each game.

Defense wasn't the issue against Temple.

Yes it is partly due to turnovers. Turnovers give teams extra possessions. Extra possessions tend to lead to more yards.

Also I don't care if a team gets 600 yards of total offense as long as the defense keeps them out of the endzone. A team can drive all day long between the 20s I don't care, but inside the redzone lock it down. Let a team kick fg's all day long against us.

The defense on 4 turnovers allowed only 1 TD. They had two turnovers of their own with Temple driving to score. The defense was solid.

I didn't say the defense was good against Temple. I said they were solid, you said they laid an egg. They didn't lay an egg. Laying an egg was Tulsa and ULM that was laying an egg. Temple was far from laying an egg.

Agree to disagree I guess...

Temple is not a good offensive team yet we gave up 450 yards of offense to them. That is not due to turnovers.

Was it the defenses fault we lost...Of course not...Did they play well...I say no

We have differing opinions...

That is ok...
