Listened to it earlier today. You can tell how much Norvell actually cares about Memphis and I hope he stays forever but I will understand if he leaves. Seems to really take pride in what’s he’s doing here and I really see it taking a premier school coming after him go him to leave. Really great interview loved how long it was.

I may be naive, but I do believe if we were to get into a p5 conference (even the crappy Big 12), Norvell would stick with Memphis.

Oh if we were in P5 with P5 month there would be no question it would take a Top 25ish job to pull him away at that point.

Good interview. I think it will take a lot to get Norvell out of Memphis. He can be a legend here and hopefully, he can get the money here.....to keep him here.
That was incredible. They need to burn that tape. If the competition gets a hold of it, he might be gone. I haven’t seen that side of him since the introduction at the Hall of Fame building. He is special.

I was thinking the same thing. But...I was also hearing what he was saying. It will take a really great offer for him to leave Memphis A low level P5 school is probably the likely candidate to offer him. Not sure that is going to be the right job for him. I think the top football schools will go after someone with better apprearing credentials. Now...if we go to the Cotton Bowl and win....then we have problems.

It was a great interview. Chris ask questions in a way that a guy like Norvell opens up and doesn’t give him the typical coach speak. I think it shows how Norvell respects Vernon too by coming by and doing that show

I did some quick analysis of programs who have participated in the CFP, and where their coaches came from. I did it quickly so I didn't go back to the BCS - just recent CFP years. Wanted to see if Norvell waited on that type offer, was it likely to come here - or did he need to take an intermediated stop at a low level P5 in order to get the big job.
I don't have the number available right now, but it showed that recent coaches at those top programs came pretty evenly from three previous categories.
A third came from G5 HC jobs
A third had prior P5 HC experience
A third came from a AC job at a high level P5 (including internally)
Conclusion...If he wants to hold out for the top job here, he is just as likely to make the jump from here to, say, Auburn as he is if he went to Arkinsaw first.

I think Cincy needs to worry about USC more than we do.

Hopefully, MN understands what the rest of college football experts and fans realize - not all P5 jobs are actual "P5" jobs. Arkansas, Ole Miss, Miss State, Iowa State, etc are P5 in name only. These schools have decades of history as terrible at worst, mediocre at best programs. These schools have the same chance of winning an SEC or Big12 championship as Memphis does - 0. They have the same chance of winning a National Championship as Memphis does - 0.
Hopefully, MN is holding out for an elite level job - FSU, USC, Auburn, etc. Taking one of the bottom feeder jobs would essentially kill his chance for an elite job down the road.

Ditto and CMN seemed to want to continue the interview as well.... towards the end he stated, “ I know that you guys want to get out of here”! He seemed to really enjoy the atmosphere and setting of the interview by Verno... There was also a particular moment where I wish he had allowed CMN to continue elaborating about his enjoyment of recruiting in this particular area.... nonetheless A+ for this interview! One of the best for sure
