I can tell you this ECU fan is not. I would speculate that the majority of the ECU fans don’t want to be in a conference with any of those schools.
Army, AF, BYU, maybe VCU b-ball only are the options. That’s what ECU wants because that’s what’s best for the conference brand and probably enhanced tv money down the road.
If you add any of the Cusa, Belt, mac schools it does nothing for you. No offense to them maybe they could compete but it’s a business decision. Pure and simple.

People keep talking about ECU being an impulse add, but when they were added weren't they coming off back to back football championships against the same teams in this conference while averaging 50k+ a game?

Yall do understand that ONE AAC team makes as much as the entire Sunbelt in a single year.
AAC team = $7 million
Sunbelt CONFERENCE - less than $5 million a year
So you want to add a school that has a market value of roughly $400,000 to our conference. I am seriously asking myself WTF some of you are thinking.
There is a strong possibility we will be forced to add the best available school and that school may presently reside in the MAC, CUSA, or Sunbelt.
I seriously doubt that. From all reports, the MWC is getting close to signing a deal that is expected to be $3 million per team or less, except for Boise State who will get an extra couple million.... as soon as that deal is done, you will see A LOT more interest.
If we offer Colorado State, they would take it in a second. They arent our top pick, but they are head and shoulders above any of the schools mentioned.

I'm warming up to Colorado State. New stadium, Denver DMA, contiguous state. Do it.

i say our addition should be done by subtraction.
that would solve the problem while making the conference stronger.

A suggestion from another board was take some or all of UConn’s $17 mil buyout and give it to Tulsa to leave. Gotta say I like that better than adding anyone on our short list.

I wouldnt be surprised if we were willing to spend part of that 17 million to help someone like Air Force defray some of the MW exit fee costs....but I dont see anyone getting dumped.

Navy, among others, don't want a 9-game conference schedule. So we aren't going to follow the Big 12's 10-team, full round robin schedule.

Oklahoma doesn't count to Texans. Plus I don't recognize their current borders.

Bwahahaha I always loved that "Texass" map.
Too bad you all won't break off and float into the ocean like the giant turd that state is.
I only cheer for two teams, Tulsa and whoever the Longhorns are losing to that week.

Dude, I'm not the enemy here. If I had a vote, I would pick Ga State, b/c I live 90 miles from Atlanta.
My reference was not to how long you may have been on csnbbs, but rather to the fact that you are in these conversations precisely b/c you are pimping your school.
And you would probably garner more empathy here if you didn't come on another conference's board, and throw grenades everywhere.
Just make your points about Ga State. You do that quite well at times.

Exactly. Memphis doesn't want it, either.

Where in the world is this obsession with Army coming from. They couldn't make it in a much less competitive conference; are scarred by the experience - and don't want to come. Forget them.

Army (Patriot)
Air Force (Summit or Mt West)
Boise St (Big West, Big Sky, or Mt West)
BYU (WCC)
Any other reasonable options? With divisions, I could see Navy pressing for San Diego St. The Aztecs would be in the West division and there is a huge Naval presence in that local area. Non-football sports to Big West.
Other than the above, Colorado St intrigues me as does Liberty (HUGE endowment).
My order in preference: BYU, Army, Air Force, Colorado St, Liberty, then Boise St. BYU brings the most value from a media deal perspective.

Negative on all fronts. I'd be least pissed about UAB I guess. Adding App State or ODU would pretty much kill the recruiting advantage we still have over them in place that we recruit heavily.
UAB is not a good choice, but the best of those 4. GSU (doesn't matter which GSU you're talking about) is garbage.
I'm on the BYU or nobody train. I'd rather go back to divisions and have stupid scheduling than add anyone else.
So sad that people do not realize that recruiting is just as important as ratings. Where was UCF in the MAC and CUSA. BYU is good at ratings but would Georgia State do as well if brought in the AAC. A coaching change could be all that it would take in the fourth best recruiting state. I keep hope that the waiver becomes rule, but if not, A west team is not necessarily the answer.
I have a good friend that did her PhD at Georgia State, it's a good school. She's a bit of a hoity toity person and would never attend a school she felt was beneath her. She graduated in the top couple of percent of our high school class. She did her BS at NC State and her Masters at GT. So as far as academics they are very good.
Although I don't necessarily like the brand as far as them being a project, I do agree that adding a team in Georgia to get better access to recruiting there would be smart long term planning. They fit the urban mold of the conference too. Just an opinion, I'm not advocating for their addition.
